2000 Hit N Run Tour...Criminally Underrated

I loved this Show.

Prince was loose, focused on guitar and it probably included the last killer fleshed out version of Darlin’ Nikki. He was reclaiming his name and getting divorced, which created some unique energy. John Blackwell and Geneva added to the cool collage. The Show had a low budget Punk Funk anything goes kinda vibe

Where do u think it ranks?

I enjoyed and appreciated it a great deal, particularly the performances of 'Mutiny' and 'ICNTTPOYM'.

Some complained the saxophone solos by Najee were overly-long and disliked the emphasis on shorter, medley style song choices, but I think it was still a rip roaring ride, if a little low on newer material.

Yep. I remember those very same criticisms at the time. I only saw one show in St. Paul, and we had a good time. Apparently, the second show was better, and included Still Would Stand All Time, which is an all time favorite that I never got to see live, but it was still an enjoyable show.

Unfortunately, during Nikki, he started the song, and Geneva came out in her school girl uniform, and then he changed his mind and sent her ass back to church. I did get to see it on a bootleg, and it looked like a very entertaining moment. I really loved the arrangement of Scandalous from this tour, as well.

I saw the concert in Milwaukee. It was announced only days prior, which added to the excitement, and Morris Day and the Time were previously booked on the same night in an adjoining Theatre. There were plenty of pissed off P fans who had already bought Time tickets.

A cool anecdote- During an intermission in his show, Prince walked over to the Time’s show, guitar in hand, and played with the group. My girlfriend was lucky enough to catch Prince walking through a guarded hallway.

Meh, another cash grab hits tour with no album to promote... just like in 1990

it did have its moments though, especially after Blackwell joined the band

Hard to believe I've been on the org for over 25 years now!

good thing about the tour is that he went back

to hohner telecasters and raw guitar sound compared to plastic Rave era guitar sound

One of my top 10 songs by him. Do you know if he had the Steeles or some choir backing him up for that live performance?

Makes me shudder everytime I hear his hoarse voice over a harmonious choir in that song. It moves me always.

I never got to hear a bootleg of it, though I'm sure one exists.
