"The Truth" - album appreciation. (any new info come out recently?)

listening to this again today, this time on spotify. it's been a while since i let it play
from start to finish. once again i'm delighted with the whole thing. it's such a good,
solid album and it's so 'unique' in his catalogue. at least, it was until he decided to
release a 'sister album' in "one nite alone...piano and voice". (which i also like a lot
by the way).

i can only imagine what kind of joy i'd feel if there were more albums like this in the
vault, tucked away, only waiting to be discovered and released in the future.

as much as i love the whole 80s catalogue (hopefully) being remastered, reissued
and rereleased with lots of bonus material, i'm also absolutely parched for more of
the post warners vault music.

on that note, with all the recent interviews, either on youtube, in podcasts or even
in printed media, i thought perhaps some new information about "The Truth" had
come to light and i might have missed it.

did anyone talk about it in the past few years and did they shed any new light on
the recording of it, or on possible other tracks recorded during these sessions?

anywho, if nothing else, just give this one another spin, even if you didn't like it
the first time round. it deserves another bit of your attention nod

I've always loved it and listen to it quite regularly.

I'm sure HM Buff made some comments on it in his recent interviews but I can't recall what..

If this got 'a proper release' the critics would have loved it.

LOVE IT. One issue - that clock on the title cut needs to be turned down:) Oh man...it's way too loud. Yes, I get that was his decision but damn...

yeah, that clock is pretty loud isn't it lol

but i do like the effects he uses on the album. i know a lot of people disagree
and think they should have all been left off, but i don't know, i kind of like his
use of effects, or better yet, is overuse of effects biggrin

i would have also loved it if he'd actually done a true cover of "a case of u" and not just
half of it. it would have been great. especially the 83/84 version eek

I'm all in on the sound effects around this time. My favourite has to be the zip on Ripopgodazippa. He could not resist!

Great record! Even Animal Kingdom. haha

I'd love to hear if he recorded any "full-band" versions of these songs, aside from Welcome 2 The Dawn, which I know some people around here have already.

The "deep-throating" noises still kind of gross me out. lol

Was it Mayte doing that? It sounds like her voice during other moments.

lol Those are pretty gross, too. But imagining it's just him eating fruit makes it slightly more palatable, so maybe I'll just think about that the next time I play it, instead of skipping to the next track.

Two that I remember.

Comeback had some sort of short vocalization intro (or outro?) where multiple harmonies became one.

The Truth and Don't Play Me (I think it was those two) were done in a single take back-to-back.
