1987 Prince music...
What are the songs created in 1987 by Prince that are non-Dream Factory/Camille sessions related? Or that you know of, songs not birthed prior to 1987. . Let the Sheila E Birthday party music turn Black album music continue along that trajectory, don't include Black Album music. . What would they sound like if he placed them as an album, say May/June 1987? How would you configure the tracking?
. Add onto the list 1. La La La He He Hee [January 1987 @ the Galpin Blvd Home Studio] 2. The Sex of It [July 1987 @ Paisley Park] 3. 101
4. Come Home [January 1987 @ the Galpin Blvd Home Studio]

- 3 Nigs Watchin' A Kung Fu Movie - January 1987 . - Jaguar (January 1987; originally for Sheena Easton, later given to Mavis Staples) . - If I Love U 2 Nite ('Final' take recorded July 1987, as leaked from the 1991 Mica Paris mispressing; earlier, less refined version of this recording likely slightly predates this, and it is definitely distinguishable from his eventual Lovesexy mode of production styling; obviously disregarding The Rebels sessions and any rumoured 1981/1982 versions) . . - The Latest Fashion (Original 1987 take, presented to Dale Bozzio but unused, this same version being later updated in 1989 with Morris Day; allegedly April 1987 and from the same sessions as 'So Strong'; original version has no horns, background chorus, 'spurned/cheating' lover banter, sound effects, etc., and emphasizes the synth lead drowned out by these in the '89 update) .
Also, and incidentally: . - 77 Bleeker St (January 1987 - Guitar and other overdubs, and minor reworkings by Prince, on this David Z-produced 1986 JJ track) - There's Something I Like About Being Your Fool (1981 Hookers/V6 track; drastically reworked and overdubbed in January 1987, for use by Bonnie Raitt, & possibly Jill Jones) - Jealous Girl (1981 Hookers/V6 track; previously offerred to the Bangles along with 'Manic Monday' in 1985, unaltered; drastically reworked and overdubbed in Jan-Feb 1987, for use by Bonnie Raitt) - I Need A Man (1981 Hookers/V6 track; drastically reworked and overdubbed in January 1987, for use by Bonnie Raitt) - Promise To Be True (1983, if not earlier, V6 track; drastically reworked and overdubbed in January 1987, for use by Bonnie Raitt) - Big Tall Wall (1986 track, Revamped/Overdubbed on 11 July 1987; most likely different from any currently circulating version) - I Wonder (My own speculation, seems originate from, at most recent, this 1987 stage of early GB material; 1990/1991 popular date attribution, but seems at odds with the unsampled Linn and that Fairlight patch) - The Ballad of Dorothy Parker - Work on a later aborted 12" Single Remix, early/mid 1987 - Housequake (7 Minutes MoQuake), unknown dates, early/mid 1987 - Housequake, Razormaid Remix, unknown dates 1987 - I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man, aborted 12" Single Remix, unknown dates 1987 - I Believe I Love U (Demo'ed April 1987-July 1987) - Graffiti Bridge (Earliest tracking on 11 July 1987, most likely does not belong on this list) - Melody Cool (Initial tracking 9 July 1987, most likely does not belong on this list) - Kenya (31 July 1987 initial tracking; overdubbed in 1989; most likely does not belong on this list) - Night Owl (30 July 1987 initial tracking; overdubbed in 1989; most likely does not belong on this list) - No Changes (Possibly the first thing recorded in a full session at Paisley Park Studios; 9 July 1987) - Cindy C (March 1987 basic tracking) - Dead on It (March 1987) - Superfunkycalifragisexy (January 1987 overdubs and remixing) - Eternity (pre-July 1987, to the unknown degree that he was involved in any of the changes or added instrumentation on the version appearing on Sheena Easton's 'No Sound but a Heart') - Unfinished Miles Davis 'Instrumental' tribute track, recorded 24 March 1987 at the Washington Ave Warehouse - What Did I Do (Instrumental track, studio version of which speculated to have been recorded prior to July 1987) . . Very few of these would fit well together, or on the tracklist of your concept early-1987 material record. . [Edited 10/31/19 4:17am] | |

This is one I would love to have Prince (and or Cat) on vocals.
