Why isn’t Purple Rain on the official Prince YouTube channel?

I see it there posted by someone called The Codfather. It has 141M views. Why wouldn't it be on the official Prince YouTube channel/page?

There are other videos missing during the 2017-2018 phase of the channel, like Peach and serval other D&P videos.

No one is interested in lesser-known songs such as Purple Rain.

The important thing is that every second of the Cafe de Paris gig has been sliced up and served individually, that's what fans really want smile

PS no sign of "Peach" either sad

Then they shouldn't have uploaded "Pink Cashmere" then. Clip montage not of interest (also, "Letitgo" isn't on the channel for the same reason)

There was no official video created for the song Purple Rain.
What you do see, is a slice of the film itself.
Of course, they could take that slice and put it online (but Warner Music and Warner Brothers Films are two separate companies now). One of those owns the official rights to all of the movie soundtracks.

Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

But hang on! I think the Codfather's video has the introdocution mentioning that Wendy and Lisa wrote it, while the 7:05 version on the Purple Rain DVD doesn't.

If you look at the link to another thread posted above, it appears there are quite a number of edits for that video. It's a confusing entry in the official canon.

Of course there's an official video for PR that was sent to TVs.
It s even on the 2004 dvd release of the movie, etc.

When 2021 comes and the rights of the WB albums are now under Sony, we can upload missing stuff like the Peach video freely.

So casual fans can buy the movie for that performance, instead of watching that single performance for free lol
