Prince’s Focus on Great Intros Prince clearly put a lot of effort into the intros to his songs. So many of his songs have killer intros. Doves, Let's Work, Get It Up, Bell of St. Mark, 7779311, Stare, Endorphine Machine, DMSR, etc. Too many to name.

*** MODERATORS NOTE ***
Are you waiting for us to disagree with you?
I'll up the ante and say he put a great amount of effort into the structure of entire albums. Not just the flow of a tracklist, but having a title song usually as the first or last track, a quirky but killer track 2, a quirky or epic balled for the penultimate track (which usually meant the closer was extra funky for a ballad or a ballad following a quirky track). . G'wan ahead and look at how he placed certain types of songs in a specific flow. Rarely did he ever change from title tracks at the beginning or end. . And usually the title tracks were either epic rock anthems (Planet Earth/Purple Rain style), epic ballads (Diamonds and Pearls), or fonky tracks that put the orgasm on you (Dirty Mind, Controversy, Lovesexy). DMSR? Sounds very common to me; no special intro. But of course, many other songs do have. But that's not anything specific Princey; most or many of the big names have great intro's. It's part of what makes them great.

I thought my first two sentences made it clear I was referring to a different subject. His post alone doesn't really offer much of an entry point for discussion. Yes, he put a lot of effort into his songs, including intros, and the list is probably too numerous to name. Next subject?

The intro of I know is amazing. Its one of the best beginnings of a Song ever.

I dont think he put a lot of effort into them

Shhh and 1999 need to be added to the list. RIP

Kiss is the first one that comes to mind. The first note of Purple Rain. Let's go crazy doesn't fit in the 'intro' category, as it's more an epilogue or something. Pop life is nice, ATWIAD works - but both aren't in the 'memorable' category. Do U lie is actually pretty neat. Get Off is memorable.

Let's Work really stands out to me. I count the bass line in the intro. He kinda of rehashed it on the Gold Standard in a way that only he can. 777 stands out to me because it is so unique with the drums and then how everything else comes in. There are so many more great intros, but I just named a few that stood out to me.

I like the a capella intros a lot, like 7, Thunder, Violet The Organ Grinder. And that includes the scream to Gett Off.

Definitely. Kiss and I'm Yours too He has many intros that grab you from the start instead of building up.

I agree that he put a lot of thought into the structure of his albums. There are a few where that was missing like some of the NPGMC releases.

The first two that spring to mind are Shhh and the NPG version of Love...Thy Will Be Done

You wanna talk about insanely good intros? Try Condition of the Heart and When the Lights Go Down. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

The OP is clearly talking about song intro's? . You can go ahead a create your own topic on what you posted.

Although "The 1 U Wanna C" never gets much love, it's got one of the hardest-grabbing intros that I know of. I really love it, especially the slap bass.

Nast Girl was always a crowd favorite when he did the sampler set. That one is in my top 3 intros. Makes me want to dance every time and I don't dance.
