Outstanding interview, thanks for sharing. Magnoli really seems like that time with Prince was very special to him. Everytime I've heard him talk about it he gets very emotional.

It is known that Prince gave Magnoli a lotta songs. How much credit does Magnoli get then for curating the magnus opus that we know as PR.

"You know, this is funky but I wish he'd play like he used to, old scragglyhead son of a...*smack* OOH!"

Of course Magnoli didn't technicallu curate the PR album. But as AZStreet points out, he indirectly shaped it. He was telling Prince things like: "This song will work well in the movie, but I'm not sure about that one..." and "I need a contemplative song for a montage." Of course that's not curating, but it is heavily influencing the final selections for the album. And course Prince (and all artists) ecieved input on the sequening all of albums, but it's not unreasonable to assume Magnoli's specific requirments for the movie would played a bigger role than outside input normally played in shaping Prince albums.
