As far as I know, the version that we are most familiar with was worked on with Wendy and Lisa and has fairlight and sitar overdubs on it. The version we are likely to get on 1999 deluxe is the same basic track but with none of this extra production.

I am interested to hear this stripped down version. As far as the song goes it is a dreamy pop /rock song,I love the melody. Perhaps this stripped back version might be rockier like when u were mine. smile

I'm guessing the 1999 version only has Prince's vocals. I'm intrigued to hear this version. I suspect it will not be massively different from the wendy and Lisa version.

According to Prince Vault, the 86 version added Wendy and Lisa vocals in addition to the sitar, as such I’m guessing the intro will be different.

.
Given the differences in songs like Strange Relationship, Witness 4 The Prosecution and Crystal Ball, I’m guessing it won’t sound too far removed from the Dream Factory version. Prince usually had the majority of the work nailed down before inviting Wendy and Lisa to add their flavour. Regardless, I’m excited to hear this early version.

Regardless of when the germ of this song was first written, wierd that this song is on 1999 and not on a future Parade deluxe (or eek a Dream Factory!) release

I disagree, outtakes should be placed with the era the primary bulk of their composition took place in. Wendy/Lisa version should be on SOTT deluxe, not the OG.

By your rationale we shouldn't really be expecting the original 1982 "Extraloveable" appearing until they do a deluxe of Hit'N'Run Phase 2.

I would expect the updated version will appear on another release.

Imagine the mayhem if they've used the Wendy and Lisa updated version on this release.

I'm worried now.

it sounds like a celebration. I always felt it picks up where Roadhouse Garden ends

a little etherial piano(1700 1800's piano sound)

flutish wind instrument

driving organ

123!123! bass drum beat

bass right on top of it

male / female lead, choral chorus

I beleive the version in question is a 1982 demo, which would be just about right with the 1999.

I think there is enough options to go around, hoping the Estate does it right.
1982 Teacher Teacher -1999 deluxe

1986 Teacher Teacher -Dream Factory

.

New Position was another demo from 1982 that Wendy and Lisa pulled out of the 'vault' for use on Parade

So would the 1986 version be on a Parade Deluxe or a Sign Deluxe?

It was reworked in early 1986 for The Dream Factory project and never known to be intended for Parade but was recorded before the release of Parade. It's A Wonderful Day and All My Dreams are both Dream Factory songs but I would put them on a Parade Deluxe.

I would hope the Estate would understand that Dream Factory/Camille explosion And release those two.

.

It's A Wonderful Day could be either Parade or Dream Factory. And instrumental of the song is in Under the Cherry Moon.

.

All My Dreams was on a configuration of Parade, so it would be a Parade outtake as well as a Dream Factory outtake
