"Your body's a movie I know by heart"

Quoted from Groovy Potential. I would LOVE to know which movies Prince knew by heart. Any ideas?

Which Way Is Up?

He has quoted from this movie many times in song and onstage, as well as covering the theme song in concert many times.

Eraserhead.
He even brought a limo to Sunset Sound and took Peggy Mac to see it.

Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

Yes, a classic song and hilarious movie. One of Pryor’s best. My whole family knows this movie by heart 😂

^^^ biggrin Yes, all of those, plus Philadelphia Story, Raging Bull (he watched those to prep for UTCM), La Dolce Vita (he wrote about it in The Good Life), The Matrix (one of his favs that he mentioned during interviews - specifically with Jay Leno), The Way We Were (he talks about the characters' relationship while singing IIWYG during the last P&M show)....

*

And no doubt many many many more. Seems he was a movie nut.

Prince was most definitely a movie nut.

My father-in-law was head of security at London's O2 arena in 2007 when Prince did his 21 nights there. He has fond memories of chatting with Prince during that time, and of how Prince would book out the whole movie theatre at the O2 - sometimes at 2 in the afternoon, sometimes 2 in the morning - to watch a movie. Sometimes just him, sometimes his whole crew and entourage.

Yes, many stories of him renting out theatres in various places. How nice for your FIL to have been able to chat with him during those shows!
