What if the May 1994 config of The Gold Experience had been issued under Prince's promises?

As we all know, it was meant to be issued at the same time as Come (13 August 1994, images of the sleeve were even printed in Uptown) but cancelled due to Prince's decision that they should just issue Come and get him put back to compiling the album.

I think it would've sold very well (unlike Come), mainly because this is in a time when The Most Beautiful Girl In The World was still relevant. The cover (with Prince holding his gold guitar with golden ripples in the background) would've been quite recognisable from a "parent's old CD collection" point-of-view.

Chaos and Disorder would've come out eariler and had a different tracklist, like this: Chaos And Disorder, I Like It There, The Same December, Right The Wrong, 18 And Over, Zannalee, Empty Room, Listen 2 The Rhythm, Dolphin, P. Control, Endorphinmachine, We March and Shhh.

You know damn well that configuration of Chaos would not have made it to mastering phase. It's a mess.

I feel like Prince fans put wayyy too much stock, energy and thought into all these alternate configurations... They didn't happen for a reason.

I understand. I think the stuff added to the "Release Date: Never" version of TGE (which I listed) could've made it into Crystal Ball instead.

If this came out in May 1994 maybe you'd be starting a thread calling it as "overrated" as Purple Rain.
