Every Prince Album Has One Classic Song!? Is there a Prince album without a Top 50 (Worthy) Greatest Prince Song? Even his lesser albums have at least one brilliant JAM. Ur thoughts? | |

There is not a Prince album without at least one or two great songs in it. Even the worst albums. . That's why his death is a great loss for music: we will never know the great songs he would have recorded for every album he would have released. |

Even in the midst of Prince's muddlings of musical output, there were moments of brilliance that stood out. That's varying degrees of brilliance, mind you. It also depends how you define "classic." That's a term thrown around a lot. I mean, it's really defined as, "judged over a period of time to be of the highest quality and outstanding of its kind." So given that, I suppose most of his albums would have that one track that is memorable or worthy of an extra nod. I think anything after 1996 would get into murky waters, really trying to find that one song. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

Ppl make the mistake of comparing his 79-88 Genius Period with the rest of his catalogue. That is unfair...that was one of the greatest creative runs in pop music history and shouldn’t diminish the great music that followed. | |

When I saw the thread title, 20Ten was the album that came to my mind that lacked an obvious ‘classic’ track for me. So I’d be interested to hear people’s suggestions for that one. | |

True. It's interesting to see AOA mentioned, as that one's got a lot of contenders for top 50 or at least top 100 Prince, for me. "The Breakdown", "Gold Standard", "Clouds"... pretty much his Gold Experience of the 2010s, IMO. | |

The only albums I'd struggle with are The Slaugtherhouse, TCI and NEWS. . Even Planet Earth has Somewhere On Earth and Plectrum has Anotherlove. | |

Art Official has Clouds and U Know which are top tier to me. Slaughterhouse has Daisy Chain, Chocolate Invasion has When Eye lay My Hands, Plectrum has WOW, the jazz stuff aren't pop albums so don't count...

I, personally, wouldn't put any of the 4 tracks on "N.E.W.S." in my top 100, let alone top 50. [Edited 10/12/19 12:29pm] Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for. |

I dont think coming last on a fairly drab album helped. Northside is good as well, Prince was still playing that one years later. Dance 4 Me... yeah i dunno, its alright, I don't think ive ever WANTED to hear it though. Maybe I'll come round to it in time. | |
