What Was THE Song That Brought You Here Just listening to GB on vinyl and Glam Slam came on... I was reminded that this was THE track that took me from being a casual listner and into an official Prince NPGer or whatever you call the hard core amongst us. I tried to steal the cassette from my older cousin that summer but he shook me down before I left! Curious what song did it for you? 1 over Jordan...the greatest since

I guess technically it was "Let's go crazy" since that was the first Prince record I ever owned. Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

Its been a journey since Soft and Wet, not quite a straight line. But I'll say somewhere between controversy and 1999 I became tethered for life. Time keeps on slipping into the future...

A friend sat me down in the summer of 1987 and made me listen - really listen - to most of "Sign 'O' The Times". And that night, I saw the purple light. I've been a fan ever since.

"What?" "Prince.Org has crashed?" ...moving to Europe... ..."...can't keep original handel???" OK ...add 2002 at the end...
Then it was "1+1+1=3"
No numeralogy.
Just Prince music. "Whatever skin we're in
we all need 2 b friends" | |

Hearing Jughead on 1999 back in the late 70s converted me. Lifelong fan after that. A certain kind of mellow.

I’ve been reader/lurker/occasional poster since the very early 2000s, and really don’t remember how I found the .org. I’m guessing maybe a link from AOL, which had a pretty active P community.

Me, I’m not sure there was any one Prince song that made me a fan or a member here. Seeing TMBGITW on VH-1’s Pop-up Video in circa 2001 is my earliest clear Prince memory, though. Then, in the 2010s, a friend passed copies to me of the Vanity 6 and Apollonia 6 albums and basically Prince’s whole catalogue up to 20Ten, and I eventually got hooked off that. I was 12, almost 13 yrs old when Little Red Corvette & 1999 were being played on TV and radio. I liked those songs and particularly the Little Red Corvette video. Through the end of 1983 early 1984 there was a lot of gossip about Prince being in a movie that might get a X-rating (gasp!). When the video for When Doves Cry played on TV I was hooked. Great song, great video, and here were clips of this mysterious movie we had heard about. I don't remember which single came out first, When Doves Cry or Lets Go Crazy, but I saw and heard When Doves Cry for the first time when the video aired, soon after that I heard Lets Go Crazy on the radio and video, and the Purple Rain hype went into full speed.
Summary:
Little Red Corvette got me mildly interested When Doves Cry solidified my fandom.

I believe it was "I Wanna Be Your Lover" that started it all for me... All I can remember is thinking "Who's that girl singing?", I was young, give me a break... usually known as "Leaped7689"

Shouldn't the question be: What was the song that made you a fan.....because..I was a fan...years before internet was there and available for me...and I noticed there is a fan page...

I was 16 in 1991. Not from a musical family or upbringing in the slightest, therefore no prior influences. Then I heard Cream on the radio. Then I saw the video. I’d never seen anyone so cool in my whole life. Literally a life changing moment for me. Game over!
