Always loved this song. It should've been released as the second single. I could imagine this topping the charts and becoming a first dance/weddings staple. Such a missed opportunity.

I don't think this song has much potential as a single given it is a little cheesey and doesn't really go anywhere. Also, I'm not sure how I'd feel about dancing to a breakup song at my wedding.

I think it is more of a song for a funeral. It is about loved ones remembering someone.

Not for me. I had Lenny Williams "Cause I Love You" and Earth Wind & Fire's "Love's Holiday" at my wedding. We each chose a song. But I didn't like the one he chose so I chose two biggrin

Because you watched the Original Kings of Comedy, right? lol

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Definitely. It's also a great song to play for young children; that seems more like it's intended audience. But it would work great at a wedding, too.

Whenever my daughter gets married, our father/daughter dance is going to be to "Be My Mirror".

That's exactly why I chose those songs. Nobody at my wedding got the reference.

If I was in charge of the Paisley Park Tour, I'd finish it with an uplifting video montage using this song.

Which did he choose?

I like this idea, btw. I'm thinking 50/50 mash-up.

I like that.

I wouldn't play it at my wedding but I do like it. Thanks for making it stick in my head.

Sugar Walls would be a better wedding song.

It is, essentially, a farewell song. Or at least that's how I've always interpreted it.

Whereas the Police's 'Every Breath You Take' has an obsessive, stalker vibe, Prince's has a much brighter and saner atmosphere.

I chose 'Revelation' at my wedding. Was our first dance when we married on April 7, 2016.

He chose Let's Dance by David Bowie. I have no idea why because I've never heard him listening to Bowie.

Yeah, I liked the idea of us each choosing a song but it's kind of wasted on him because he's not really a music fan. Another suggestion he had was "some Michael Jackson song" which could have been anything. Luckily, I was in charge of the music that night and it was pretty much all 70s and 80s disco. I may have been born in the 90s but I'm old school biggrin

Much more of an I'll always love/care about you than a love/wedding song to me.
Why not Adore, Forever in My Life, Call My Name, I Love U in Me, When 2 R in Love, Saviour, Let's Have a Baby, & on & on.
My ex & I were going to have 'Love Stinks' played as we walked back down the path/aisle after we married. We didn't think anyone would get it, but it was actually telling for what would occur.

I was a mobile dj when the song came out and regularly played it at weddings. Not as a "first dance" or "staple", just a good, appropriate song I liked to play. The first dance has to be something meaningful to the bride and groom, so unless they're Prince fans, that's not going to happen. Even if they were Prince fans, they'd probably pick Adore or something.

As for the staples, they were usually the lowest common denominator songs that almost always worked to get people dancing, songs that everybody knows and wants to dance to. A Prince album track that only fans know wouldn't make that cut either.

Now, if it had been a hit single, then sure.

I love the song but I see it as a parting of the ways song.
