Here is it again, Prince fans! The infamous list of Prince fans that I can do without is back.

1. The Non NPGMC closet hater: This fan complains about having to pay or says that it is not worth the money but still wants everything that is offered on the site. This fan will call the NPGMC tracks crap and then download them from another site. If only there were some kinds of funky virus that came with ill-gotten files...like herpes from unprotected sex

2. The No Credit Card fan: This guy thinks that the NPGMC is obligated to take his checks and money orders. In 2003, if you can't get a credit card, should you even be spending money on something as unecessary as a fan club memberships? Get a better job and move out of your mother's basement.

3. The Celebration Withdrawl victim: This person is STILL holding out for a celebration this year and/or crying because there obviously isnt going to be one this year. He is holding Prince personally responsible for not having the celebration as if Prince is obligated to have one every single year. No consideration is given to the fact that NO OTHER ARTIST does anything like this - ever.

4. The "Prince doesn't love his fans" crybaby: This is usually the most ungrateful and selfish fan of all. This person thinks that any time they don't get exactly what they want from Prince, that Prince is shitting on fans in general. Their memories are short or - most of the time - they are simply uninformed. They choose to overlook things that only come with NPGMC or being a Prince fan like the free CD single and movie at the celebration or the free War cassette, T shirt, poster, and lyric book from the fundamentally flawed 1800NEWFUNK site. The only thing that might satisfy this person is if Prince came and played their backyard bbq and bought all the food and beer.

5. The broke ass fan: This fans gets offended anytime the NPG has the audacity to actually charge money for something. The price is never right as they want everything for nothing. You will hear this fan asking why cant Prince just let everything the vault out at once for anyone to download or wants NPG to press CDs for no cost and simply give them away. There is nothing wrong with being financially strapped or just broke as hell. There is an inherent problem with believeing that you are entitled to something for nothing because you are poor - this is the same mentality which perpetuates poverty in the lower socioeconomic class of our society. But I will save all that for the sociology class.


6. The Prince is God fan: Ah yes, we all know this one. If it is not you, you know someone who is this kind of fan. This person has a room in their house dedicated to Prince - full of all kinds of memorbilia, CDs, Records, Tshirts, stickers, posters, keychains, cheap ass jewelry, tourbooks, etc - most of which are completely worthless. This is the chick that gets the symbol tatooed on her ass. This is the fan that gets in line at the gig 8 hours before show time and then lets all of his late friends get in line ahead of others and then wants to fight if they are called on it. This is the guy with the bad jheri curl (still) that says he has met Prince and acts like he knows him personally and expects you to believe it. This is the bitch that had something to say to me in the line at the celebration when I said that Paisley Park security didnt know what they were doing.

As Prince is great and we do love him, I suppose we all are subject to falling into this category at some moment in our lives. The difference is that most fans manage to eventually get a grip. Please feel free to add to this one as needed.

7. The scoop fan: This fan must have the scoop on everything. He erodes his own creditlity with this addiction because he ultimately gets alot of bullshit gossip on everything. This guy needs to know worthless shit liek what the set list to the concert will be or the tracklist to the forthcoming release. What does anyone need this info for? Why cant he just wait until the gig or the new CD/DVD? It comes down to yet another obsessive trait of the Prince nerd who is almost as bad as theguy who will camp out to be the first person dressed up like a klingon at the Star Trek convention.



This is not bait for negativity. It is simply a comical look at the Prince fan community. Down insecurity and learn to laugh at yourself. You will be happier. I am.

Very, very funny. The fams from #6 are at the top of my list that I can do without right now. There is someone on this site who actually told me that Prince told him not to reply to my posts, but then told him he should because I was being mean

Anyway, this is a great list and it's very dead on. I am sure at one point I have belonged to many or all of these these groups, but at this point I feel that I really don't belong in any of the groups.

- Love it Lamont! Love it! I do worry about myself sometimes as I don't really think I am an obsessive fan. I like most of the stuff Prince does with NPGMC and musically but I'd like to think that I also am very good at seeing the crap he does too. I often worry about my state of mind but after reading the list - I am pleased to say I laughed out loud and don't fit into any of them! - Well aprat from number 7.
