Was Prince a fan of Chicago’s Terry Kath?

I was watching a documentary on the band Chicago on Netflix. One of the horn players recalled Jimi Hendrix telling him Terry Kath was a better guitar player than he (Hendrix) was. I decided to poke around on youtube and came across this amazing concert footage. Man Kath was a beast. Do we know if Prince was a fan of his? I'm guessing yes as we've heard stories about young Prince requiring band members know the solo to 25 or 6 to 4. But I'm not aware of Prince ever mentioning him specifically. Incidentally I often thought Shades of Umber was Chicago-esque. I wouldn't have minded Prince and the horn section he had putting out music that had an early-Chicago (pre Peter Cetera ballad era) influence. https://www.youtube.com/w...oAoSZ2y1cw

Terry Kath was amazing! I am a huge Chicago fan and honestly, the band was never the same after he passed away.

He and Prince had a few things in common. They were both amazing rhythm and lead guitar players. And they were both severely underrated by the music press. When Rolling Stone put out its list of the 100 greatest guitarists (I think it came out in the 90s) Kath wasn’t on the list. They did another list in 2015. Prince finally made that list just behind Billy Gibbons at #33 but Kath still wasn’t on it. Crazy.

i remember in one of the documentaries from the 80's it was stated that Prince could play the solo for "Make Me Smile" and it was considered a big deal....so he obviously was aware of him.......grossly overlooked guitar player
