Prince exhibit coming to the Minnesota State Fair next year

Prince exhibit coming to the Minnesota State Fair next year

By Jon Bream Star Tribune August 31, 2019 — 9:11pm

The late rock star’s estate is planning “Paisley Park in Your Heart 2020,” an open-air exhibit with Prince artifacts, merchandise and nightly performances at the Minnesota State Fair in 2020.
After years of saying no to performing at the grandstand, Prince is likely to have a big presence at the Minnesota State Fair in 2020.

I like this move for selfish reason! Although I attend the Minnesota State Fair every year - reluctantly I might add- due to the over crowdedness and the indulgence of glutonny along with that fair makes me feel like an outsider because nothing there I can strongly identify with nor appeal to me! With this new Prince exhibit, I will have something I can relate to and want to see at the Minnesota State Fair! Looking forward to 2020!

That's great! Prince made it known how much he loved Minnesota, and it was nice to know that he loved the fair. Personally, I've always thought that Prince showed more love for Minnesota than Minnesota did for him, because it seems like he wasn't that big of a deal to them, until after his death, when they really saw how big he was, and how much he meant to the world. Only then did it seem that Minnesota realized just what they had in their midst. Now, I could be wrong, but that's how it always seemed to me.

I think it's more of an situation where Prince didn't want to be treated as someone special when he was out and about in Minneapolis and the residents honored that request. There were times when he would be shopping at the mall and folks might say 'Hey, Prince.' to him but they didn't mob him. He was able to live a somewhat normal life in 'his' city like riding his bike to the parks, etc. This is why he made Minneapolis his home. Also that the cold kept 'all of the bad people out'. biggrin

Yes and I loved that he stayed in his hometown and didn't go "all Hollywood". I think it kept him grounded and focused on concentrating on his craft of music and not get distracted by the fame.
