I don't think he hated the album, he just thought it was evil and shelved it.

Didn't Paul McCartney refuse to release an album? "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"

As to the Black Album... I think he wanted it to be bootleged. After all he did what I would consider the 2 darkest song on the Lovesexy tour.... I do not know how he can think it so evil!? "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"

. The Lovesexy tour was about redemption through god. The first part was about the evil that is overcome in part two. Which is why it was so scripted and why musically the experience was such a let down after the Under The Cherry Moon tour and the Sign of the Times tour. . Now, why he chose to release the video of the tour with part 2 as the first part, I will never understand. [Edited 8/26/19 7:49am] Paisley Park is in your heart - Love Is Here!

Sure he didn't hate the black album. It was all about promotion and creating a hype. He wanted to be unreachable and knew his fans would do anything to buy the album. Many fans got their hands on the album.
