I have always liked Sheila but after the celebration, they looked so right together. Sheila is a good woman - you can tell from the way she is, I mean, who doesn't Sheila? You have never heard any bad about her, her skills are as great as ever, and she is still a fabulous peice of ass.

She loves Prince, too. One of the few collaborators that didnt bad mouth him once their projects together were done. She would definitely be better to him than mayte was.

According 2 a reliable source of mine who knows Sheila very well she actually asked him 2 marry her at one time. When she was touring with Lionel Ritchie Prince used 2 fly 2 where she was playing 2 see her romantically. They had an on and off relationship until around the Sign o the Times tour. She finally asked him 2 marry her and he turned her down proclaiming he was already married 2 his music.

I remember when I found out about Prince and Mayte's marraige, I thought, why the fuck did he marry her of all people? She didn't seem to be his equal or have a mind of her own. I always thought that Sheila seemed to be his perfect match - personally, musically and spiritually. And she's his age! I guess it's never too late.

I was there as well and it did feel good. And Sheila is the only woman he has worked with - other than Mavis, Chaka, and perhaps LaBelle - that actually deserved respect on an artistic level. The rest were chicks glomming onto him for their 15 minutes of fame and we knew it but it was fun.

I think the reason he chose not to marry Sheila is because he knew they would not be still as tight if the marriage had ended. He apparantly has respect for her. She is still playing & hanging out with him. How many other ex-girlfriends do you see him with that often? You never know, maybe if he ever gets tired of being married to 20 year olds he will settle with her.

Sheila would be "too much woman" for him, & then he would eventually drive her to drink-

"So, why didn't Prince want to marry u?" and her response was "How do you know it wasn't me who didn't want to marry him?"
What a great response. At that moment I realized that she was an independent thinker who wasn't going to be controlled. I still think they would have been a hot couple.
