Prince in dsd Is anyone a fan of the dsd format here? I tried to post a thread on prince in dsd and it got blocked! Has no one heard of dsd or super audio cd here? Funky alien

I got only one Hi-Rez audio file from Prince and it's the 1999 album from HDTracks. It does sound good, but overall I don't think I have the best equipment to fully appreciate that level so I just listen to ALAC or Amazon Music (Which I think is 320Kbps).
The only Super Audio CD I ever heard was so long ago and it was Thriller. Again that sounded good, but I was fine with the regular CD version.
I've never really dealt with DSD because I don't believe Apple supports it and I use iTunes and iPhone's for my music. " They say Money won’t buy happiness, but it’ll pay for the search.” - Prince

Yeah, I believe DSD sometimes sounds much better. It's definitely louder and I've never read an explanation as to why but my copy of Aja by Steely Dan is much better on DSD than CD. I'd say the same for Hotel California although, I do believe it's a diff mix. THe kick drum at the start of the title cut is just so much louder on the DSD.
As for Prince, i just don't know what to say. I don't know if we'll ever see DSD ...we don't even have his stuff remastered yet. I konw DSD is a Sony thing so who knows what that deal will bring us. I did not have much hope of better sounding Prince albums until i heard what they did with the 37 year old Baby You're A Trip on the Originals album. Wow...that song sound quality blew me away. I think the Peach and Black guys said that the Linn Drum never sounded so good...I think I agree. So tight and snappy. So clean...
So, let's just hope someone thinks to re-release all of this but remastered.

I need some highrez in my life!! What’s a good site for DSD, other than HD Tracks?

I'll say one thing - so far, I haven't heard any Prince high res that sounded much better than the CD. Yes, I can tell there is a diff between 16 and 24 bit for 1999 and others but barely. However, the Originals 24 bit high res really does improve upon the CD. I can't describe it...i just hear it. Get that one!
HDTracks is where I got mine.
