Twitter Web sherrif out again - does anyone actually agree that 2.20min clips are harmful?!

Bloody ridiculous that tweeters are being sent cease & decist notices again for posting very short clips. I am so annoyed at this. What harm does a small clip do otrher than keep his memory alive & promote the estate. Majority of the clips are not even bootlegs! Is there anyone on here who agrees with the web sherrifs [Leave name out snip - luv4u] logic?...liteally what harm are the fans doing to any earning potential.

Twitter posters are helping their earnings potential. It is free advertising they are getting. The larger ,and more plentiful, the conversations are that you can get going on Prince, the more money that will ultimately come into the estate. The actions by the estate are definitely counter intuitive if money and exposure are things they want.

Silencing the people that love Prince the most, and are spreading the word so to speak, just makes no sense. Those are the funk soldiers you want on your side, the ones who are helping expose a new generation to Prince and his music.

I don't think that these kinds of clips are harmful in any way but at the same time, it's up to the rights holders to decide how Prince's music is used. There's no point in getting upset about it.

No it's stupid. The estate should just stop already. It's sad to me that a lot of people don't know how great Prince was live because it's damn near impossible to find any live footage of him online. They think the RRHOF solo was his greatest ever because it's all they've seen. Sad.

It doesn't bother me if a lot of people don't how great Prince was live, because in reality, it doesn't benefit him now anyhow, one way or the other. His true fans know how great he was, and as one of them, that's all that matters to me.

Does Twitter pay the Estate for the privilege of hosting his content? Probably not right? Why should they get to use his music for free while other businesses have to pay? I get it that fans upload it, but in the end Twitter is making money off that action.

How is Twitter making money off of it?

Data, clicks, traffic, user interaction, analytics, metrics. I don't know. Every service is selling metadata these days. Why is Facebook the world's most valuable company and most people don't pay to use it? Twitter is probably the same way. It's a business.

I'm not sure why they are doing this to Twitter ppl. YouTube has a plethora of full length concert's that have been showing for weeks now. No take down yet.

they were sending me threading messages year ago...

here is part of one!

"Thanks for your PM ... .. although we should point-out that that video
clearly states that PRINCE "steals" (ergo that he is a thief) and
this, like-it-or-not, is highly defamatory / libellous ... .. you are,
of course, entitled to insult anyone you please (again within the
bounds of libel laws), but the above crosses-the-line (and then some).

The reason why we chose to write to you is that you clearly
'had-a-beef' and we wished to communicate with you directly to
demonstrate you that there are two sides to this story. Should you
wish for us to remove the clip and then take further action, then
that's up-to-you, we were / are simply offering you the opportunity to
withdraw the clip (again, the choice is entirely yours).

We'll look forward to liaising further.

Regards,

WEB SHERIFF"
