This seems very unusual to say the least. What is the provenance of this material? How was it acquired by the seller and do they actually own the right to sell this item that should be the propery of Prince or the Estate? It seems that any reputable auction house would verify these questions before putting an item like this up for sale or auction. |

In this case typically the rushes will be owned by Warner Brothers. However, they bought the end product and not necessarily all the parts that crerate the end product.
Prince and the Estate have no claim.
For years I had many film cans in my office. Record labels don't want them back because they don't have space to store them.
