One Night Alone live! Wow i don't know what the hell is wrong with me. I had slept on this for reasons unknown, but while listening to live shows on YouTube i kept bumping in to these shows, and my god are they so fucking amazing! . i would have to rank these shows as some of the all time best . Right now, this very second I think I'm ranking the One Noght Alone tour as his all time best. The band is undoubtedly his all time best. Holy fuck this is amazing music! And he was so funny and having a blast as was his audience. [Edited 7/14/19 20:25pm]

My first ever Prince concerts!
Saw him in Frankfurt and Oberhausen...2002, I think?!? By then, he changed the set list a bit...crowd pleasers such as Purple Rain were back! But it was still a mesmerizing experience...I still have goosebumps thinking back on that awesome Days of Wild rendition in Oberhausen and the whole crowd chanting „It ain’t over“ for minutes afterwards...and indeed, it wasn’t nearly over yet! Those two shows where the best concerts I’ve ever seen by anyone, and I’ve seen my share of legends...the Stones, James Brown, George Michael, to name a few of my favorite artists. But they couldn’t so much as touch this man when he was in his prime! [Edited 7/14/19 10:06am]

I think besides being incredibly busy at the time, I admit I had become turned off by 90's prince and The Rainbow Children that I didn't give it a fair chance. It was my loss. But so jealous of everyone that attended.

Love the recordings - official and bootleg - of this concert though I didn't see it in person. As much as some of his religious rhetoric at the concerts turned me off, it took some courage to play so much from The Rainbow Children when it bombed with the public and many of his fans. It sure sounded better live than the studio recordings. You could tell he was inspired.

Caught the ONA tour in Louisville. Might be the best Prince concert I ever saw, or maybe 2nd behind the Lovesexy tour in Cincinatti. It's a close call. Either way, excellent show!! Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.

Being able to witness the rehearsal before the show is still one of my all time favourite memories of being a Prince fan! See the man with the blue guitar, maybe one day he`ll be a star...

It says a lot doesn’t it? That after a divisive underperforming album, he sets out and preforms one of the most amazing tours that has everyone that has seen and listened to it praising it ...and even releasing a box set of it. Granted it took me 20 years in the dark to finally give it a chance and get it.
Better late than never. [Edited 7/14/19 21:52pm]

I really felt the shows from this period seem so spontaneous and alive

You're probably aware, but the Louisville show is interesting as it was, IIRC, the only ONA Live show that didn't include the full horn section. I Love U, But I Don't Trust U Anymore...

[Edited 7/14/19 10:06am] That tour was the best concert experience ever for me! I’ve seen the shows in Antwerp, Oberhausen, the 2 in Rotterdam and the closing aftershow in Nighttown. All in a week or 2. Fantastic!!!! Driving around to the shows with my then girlfriend, getting in line early, seeing the soundchecks, the shows and going to the afterparty. And then a few days later doing that again..... man, best days of my life!!! And I agree, that music, that band, the vibe, it was all magical to me! Produced, Arranged, Composed & Performed by PRINCE

I have to step away from the youtube rabbit-hole because the algorithm is recommending so many great shows from all eras that I'm overwhelmed. The man was just an amazing live performer.

I haven't turned off my computer or browser for days (normally I do) because I'm scared I'm gonna lose the youtube video (or rather that it will be expunged by the ptb) that I've been watching. It's over two hours and a half long. I thought maybe I'd listen in 20 minute increments, when/if I get the chance. I never saw him live. Never knew much of anything about what I was missing. So, I envy you all and love reading your remembrances.

I have a shortcut on my iPad that lets me download the videos. I download them all just in case. And then watch them later.

I still remember being on such a high after those two shows I’ve attended, that whole era was so remarkable. I also remember, we had quite a huge stormfront in western Germany that day of the show in Oberhausen...I was flying over the Autobahn and after entering Oberhausen there were literally street signs flying my way...then I stood close to two hours in the rain in front of the arena. But it didn’t matter, I connected with some guys from the audience...one guy drove all the way from Berlin to catch this show, he was practically converted to hardcore fandom after catching his show in Berlin. The whole atmosphere was just great, there was a lot of love in the audience on both nights. I’ve seen P two more times...2010 in Berlin and then 2011, if I remember correctly...you know, that infamous show in Cologne. But ONA will always reign supreme in my mind! I think we were inside before most of the rain came down, but that wind. Prince even made a remark about the weather at the beginning of the show. And like you said, the atmosphere inside was great, a lot of love inside that building that night. Man, great memories!! Produced, Arranged, Composed & Performed by PRINCE

In the liner notes, Scottie Baldwin wrote that the recordings were direct to tape. I didn't realize how literally he meant this until I came across a video on Youtube of him doing When You Were Mine in L.A....it was the recording that went on the ONA Live set. It was EXACTLY as it sounded on the album....amazing document.

Saw this tour 2 nights in a row in Atlanta and it was nice to have a set list that was light on hits for a change. Biggest highlights for me were having 3rd row seats, soundcheck access, a chance to speak to him and a great aftershow but I wouldn't put the concert itself up there with the top of the ones I saw.

Been to his concerts in the 80s, 90s and 2000’s and it’s definitely the best for me, too, to support one of my favorite albums— TRC. My first time going to the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood (now Dolby Theatre). Hearing the Darth Vader voice live was unreal. Xenophobia live was awesome. I just ignore the preaching, though. "I want to be the only one you come for...."
