I've owned this album for almost 20 years and only just noticed that the landscape appears to have a bright pink nipple.
Looking forward to your shock when you fold out the whole cover and realise the'mountains' are a woman laying down.
I've wondered if the foreground is Paisley Park and the background the land of Sinaplenty "I like to watch." |

Of the 1999 "Vault" songs, who's heard them?
I think we've all heard TURN IT UP, FEEL U UP, etc.
But whos' heard TEACHER TEACHER and/or Rearrange? Or BOLD GENERATION or MONEY DON'T GROW ON TREES???
A non-falsetto version of HOW COME U DON'T CALL ME ANYMORE sounds intriguing!

Teacher teacher is in circulation for years. I guess most hardcore prince fans have heard it. |

It is assumed/hoped that this will be the earlier version, which is not floating around. |

yeah, i was hoping for that one
the only changes i would make to this set is to ditch most of the single edits and other stuff on disc 2 and just put more alternate versions of album tracks (extended/alternate mix/etc) and a couple more era tracks on there (like "u should b mine", "fox trap", "boom boom" etc).
beyond that i'm glad we're getting a decent amount of material, which bodes quite well for the future reissues. yay.

I'm so excited for what deluxe versions of Parade and Sign O' The Times could look like now.
Maybe Parade would include a DVD of the birthday show?
Maybe SOTT would include the movie itself?

Oh, I am so glad to hear the album's getting remastered. Prince's 80s output has SUUUUUCKED sound-wise on CD. I'm hopeful that any work they eventually do on "Sign 'O' The Times" (my favorite) will open up the soundscape in new ways I haven't been able to hear before.
.
Anyone here a fan of XTC and/or Yes? If so, have you gotten the Steven Wilson remix sets of any of their albums? HOLY CRAP, are they spectacular. Wilson has a magician's touch with bringing out the best, clearest sound from every multi-track. He's a prolific musician himself, and I think that helps him with balancing the instrumentation and vocals.
.
Also, whoever did the Japanese remasters of Queen's discography should get a Nobel prizel. Even in my car stereo, with all the road noise, the songs sound brighter and more expansive than they ever did before.
.
So I'm hoping that the Estate gets someone who knows what they're doing to handle the remastering. It's not just bumping up the volume... it's important to go back to the original tapes (multi-tracks if you can get them!) and do everything from the ground up. |

HUGE XTX fan here. My heavens, SKYLARKING and ORANGES AND LEMONS!!
Are you a fan of Jellyfish???
But I agree, its criminal that an artist as huge and as well-regarded as Prince has his Classic Era stuff out there sounding so poorly... |

Sign O The Times is the one that's most in need of a remaster. Although the vinyl does sound ok.
But it could be brought to life in such beautiful, amazing ways, with a DECENT remaster. let's keep our fingers crossed that they will release a box set of SOTT + lots of goodies one day in the not too distant future.
1999 remaster will be a first sign of what to expect I guess. although it's a bit strange that they're not saying (yet) who did the remaster. or did i not read careful enough?

I say make the whole cover metallic!
when I first heard about it (after seeing the Purple Rain Deluxe cover) I envisioned it with a purple foil background and and embossed Prince 1999! "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!" |

one thing is (at least the one I heard) the first and second chorus are reversed... in the early one it stars with "All my partners ask me..." as opposed to "every Friday night I call your but up..."
I believe he flipped them live as well... as well as other musical differences. you will notice it. "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!" |

"Yah, You Know" has been edited down to 3.11 from the 5 and a half minute version currently circulating .. annoying
but most of the difference is horns and repeating the beat. It is likley the same vcocal but not horns. "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!" |
