It took them 3.5 years 2 finally get it right.

I'll take it.

I heared there were way more alternate versions and outtakes from that era that should be on a proper super deluxe edition, so this is a small step in the right direction compared to Purple Rain Deluxe, but a still a long way from getting it right.

Also, why would Warners suddenly release another album this year?

Oh, and the interview with Michael Howe wasn't with a Dutch magazine, it was with Humo, a Belgian magazine.

Yes, the joy for the 1999 Deluxe release is completed by the fact that it is once again the BartVanHemelen's pompous messages turned out to be rancorous garbage.

Even if you both agreed to the 'deal', it's hardly legally binding and nobody would be bothered if you both contiune to post here. Let's all forget about it, come together in the excitement for this release and just go about our business.

Yes i'm wondering about this as well. Or are they keeping up the incorrect info so people don't think it's the same as the Purple Rain reissue??

There's nothing i'd do with 10LPS aside from break my back carrying them around so definitely going for the CD version here.

Possessed time runs around the same time as the boot, so most likely the same version. SOOOO looking forward to getting this in studio quality!

would anyone else have taken a compromise of shoving a "Extraloveable (2019 Promo Edit)" as the last track on the filler promo edits disc every other poster complains about? I mean I kind of like this better than just blanking out the rape lyric, or pretending the track doesn't exist entirely, and we already were inundated with tons of edits in lieu of genuine "full" versions on Originals, maybe test the waters a bit with a tasteful fade at the 4-5 minute mark.

I also don't get people thinking it's going to be more highlighted on a stand-alone release down the road. With that rape lyric a 5CD box is the perfect place to chuck it somewhere in the middle and hope nobody freaks out or if they do the other content dilutes their outrage, any other context is just going to put even more social commentators on red alert.

I'm a big fan of the 7" edit of Let's Pretend We're Married. I admit I won't be playing that cd in its entirety more than once probably but I'm still happy it's there.

Yeah I assume it is the 83 version with the "puts up such a fuss" but that was recorded (at least worked on) 15 May 83. Duane Tudahl's book says the song had been around for a while. But the time listed in the book is 8:46 and the one on this set is said to be 8:47...

This November 29, The Prince Estate, in partnership with Warner Records, will reissue the timeless 1999 album, remastered for the very first time, along with 35 previously unreleased tracks from Prince’s legendary vault that showcase the creative flow Prince had tapped into during this era.

The 1999 Super Deluxe Edition represents the deepest dive to date into Prince’s vault and includes a total of 65 audio tracks across 10 LPs.

The Super Deluxe Edition brings fans all the audio material that Prince officially released in and around 1982, as well as 23 previously unissued studio tracks recorded between November 1981 and January 1983, and a complete live audio performance of the 1999 tour recorded at the late show (the second of two that day) in Detroit, MI on November 30, 1982. In addition, this vinyl set boasts a brand-new DVD containing another complete, previously unreleased concert from the 1999 tour, recorded in multi-cam live at the Houston Summit on December 29, 1982.

The Super Deluxe Edition set also features Prince’s previously unseen handwritten lyrics for several songs from the era, including the hit “Little Red Corvette,” plus images of the analog tape reels from the vault and rare photography from Prince’s early ‘80s photographer, Allen Beaulieu. The Super Deluxe Edition is completed with brand-new liner notes by longtime Rolling Stone critic David Fricke, revered Guns N’ Roses bassist and author Duff McKagan, Minneapolis historian and radio host Andrea Swensson, and Prince scholar Duane Tudahl.

Is there any hint if there would be a "lead single" to promote this with a music video a la Holly Rock?
.
What would be your choice ?
.
Will there be a documentary about the making of the album, its reception, its influence and legacy, etc?
.
Something to reach a bigger audience than just the fans?

A little disappointed the 1983 version of Wonderful Ass isn't on there, a little; I think it's superior to the the 1984 version. A minor complaint though.

I think they've maybe realised that trying to reach a larger audience in 2019 with 35 year old songs is a bit of a dumb idea and they're trying to give more to the people who actually buy this stuff. His autobio will be out though, and he'll still be dead when Netflix finish their documentary.

It's a shame they're not doing a 'vault tracks only' vinyl version. I already have the original album on vinyl and I have no interest at all in getting those edits on vinyl.

At last a proper super deluxe treatment for Prince. Looks great. Yes two missing songs but "reasons". Just hoping sound quality is top notch.

I can only hope and dream we get a few more like this, at very least Parade and SOTT.

I doubt the reason they left Extraloveable off is becuase of the rape lyrics, the song is readily available online for years and noone cares, so why not release it on the deluxe version of teh album it's supposed to be on??

Only problem with that idea is that the edits disc is already 78-plus minutes long and therefore unable to hold another song.

Extraloveable is a great song but I imagine any archivist going through vault and hearing the rape lyric would just go "no, just no". Heck even Prince left it in the vault and re-recorded it before releasing it.

Much as I am a completist I am not that bothered by it being excluded.

Well yeah.
The point is if the Estate is scared of the SJW's or the MeToo cronies because of these lyrics then thats pretty sad because if these groups wanted to complain about it they would have already.

and even if they didn't find the song, they will now when everyone complains that it isn't on the new release and attract attention to it and even mention that the lyrics could be a problem and mentions rape.

Yeah maybe, but most people aren't paying attention to that stuff. I suppose there's the potential for it blowing up if enough eyes get on it and thinkpieces in the right hands are written up. Official *sanctioned* releases would make this more likely over obscure outtakes.

It's all very silly, he's expressing an emotion, and not a pleasant one, but they're songs not witness statements. I think they should be released myself but I can see why those compiling this are nixing them. Honestly he covered all of this in Electric Chair, anytime anyone asks me about his personal life I just tell them to consider Prince cancelled and then work from there deciding whether or not they want to like his music shrug
