I used to dislike it, mainly because it made it onto TGE and Days Of Wild didn’t, but it’s grown on me over the years. |

I don't know why "We March" got such a bad rap from fans. It's a great song. The album is great. The only thing I skip on there is "Shy". Miserable song. " don’t really care so much what people say about me because it is a reflection of who they r." |

Music is so subjective! The lyrics for "Shy" are cringe-worthy but Prince lays down some absolutely incredible guitar work in that song. If you're of a mind to see it broken down, check this out:

Yeah, it's all subjective, of course. Maybe it's the lyrics that throw me. But the production feels really lackluster. It's just dull.

I have an unreleased version of Shy and it's much better than the album version. Prince should have used that one on TGE. I really like We March, it's a good song. Welcome 2 The Dawn |

Needs a stronger hook and melody for the chorus...the verses promise an amazing chorus and instead we get a lacklustre "we March" followed by a changing phrase without memorable rhythm or melody. It's one of his many "there was an amazing song lurking in there somewhere "
Shy is a much better song musically and walk don't walk is more uplifting. |

his white fans never wanted to see their Prince being contrary or divisive. fact is, he was all inclusive in his early music but maybe that was youth, maybe it was a pose, maybe it was to con the crossover fans, he did plenty of songs paticularly after WB started fucking with him to make it clear where he was as he got older. Idealism is a young man's game but it ain't reality. |

Yeah, but he was always divisive in his youth, as much as his anti-WB years. One doesn't simply sing about "Head" and get invited to the Christmas party. LOL It feels like fans hate "We March" as much as they seem to despise "Right the Wrong". It feels almost hypocritical of those fans to hate those songs - mantras of equality and inclusivity - yet love "Partyup" or "DMSR", which also calls for everyone to join the party.
Regardless, I always loved the song and the album, sans "Shy". I cut "Shy" from my CD rip and mixed the segues on either side so it blends naturally. It actually feels weird to hear "Shy" when I happen to stream it on Spotify or something.
