Hi everyone. Inspired by Moonbeam's 'Best Album' and 'Best Original's track' polls, I've decided to make a poll of Prince's best outtakes.

The aim of this poll is to discovery this community's favourite unreleased Prince song. However, before conducting the main poll I think it'll be wise to create a shortlist, hence why I've labelled this thread 'Stage 1'.

To get involved simply post a list of all the songs that you'd like to have considered for the short list. You can list as many tracks as you like but try to aim for around 15 minimum - 30 maximum if you can.

What is considered an Outtake?
For the purposes of this poll, any studio recording that Prince participated in that hasn't been released in its entirety up until now. This can include...
* entirely original songs such as 'A Place in Heaven'
* songs that featured Prince's vocal guide for other artists such as 'Baby Go Go'
* full versions of songs that were edited down for release such as 'The Beautiful Ones (full length)'
* alternative recordings or remixes of songs such as 'Around the World in a Day (Versace Experience 2006)'

Each time a track appears in a list it will be considered a vote. Depending on the number of votes cast I'll aim to cut the list down to approximately 50 tracks or as close to that as I can get. These tracks will be taken across to stage 2 which will have the conventional Moonbeam poll scoring method.

If you want to include a song that Prince recorded or mixed more than once then please be specific as to which version you mean. For example...
A Place In Heaven (Prince Vocal) or A Place In Heaven (Lisa Vocal)
Empty Room (1985) or Empty Room (1992)
We Can Funk #2 or We Can Funk #5

The last day for submissions will be the 31st July. I won't begin counting until this stage has closed so feel free to edit and update your list as much as you see fit up until then. I'll aim to have the main poll up and ready for early August.

forgot to add Mutiny, Strange Way, Heaven and If it'll Make You Happy. I won't really be happy unitl we have all 100 songs that were given as possible inclusion for Purple Rain. Maybe we have most? A comprehensive list of those songs would be incredible.

Hopefully the Estate is keeping tabs on polls like this (1 disc collections per calendar year is just not enough). I'm also a huge Bob Dylan follower too and his Estate puts out copious amounts of music each year. Fans lap it up, who cares about the general public. If sales are the driving force then the Prince Estate should just sell the contents of the vault. Let someone else put his stuff in circulation.
