I can't really recommend the episode. It's probably not worth your time, even to see the Prince "joke". Not dead, not in prison, still funkin'... |

I'm a Seth fan. And as far as the episode goes, it's up to personal tastes. They've spoofed Prince more than once on Family Guy including after he died and he came back to tempt Meg (or Chris?) to do something. I forget, but I can see the scene in my head. What viewers, outside of those like you and I, don't realize is that those MacFarlane shows aren't out to punch in the teeth as South Park did. Trey and Matt were vicious and nasty. It went beyond humor to their personal vitriol. But with MacFarlane's shows, if the joke is funny, then make the joke. Fans of that person may see it different, but I don't believe there is ever malintent from them. It's just all good fun. Prince isn't hands off to anyone, any more than Bowie, MJ, Vanity, whoever. Once ya dead, all bets are off.
But my favorite is still Prince on The Price is Right.

I like Seth's stuff (especially The Orville) and LOVE South Park. I'm also cool with taking digs at Prince (love that Kevin Smith stuff), I just didn't think this was funny at all. It didn't anger me, just wasn't funny.
I will say though that since Prince is one of the few performers on record as severly denouncing holograms, that idea just needs to die. But that's not why I didn't like it. There was literally no joke there.
Let us know what you think when you watch it.
And... what's the Price Is Right thing? Must have missed that one.

America Dad is not known for being funny. None of Seth McFarlane's cartoons are, for that matter. WHat they are known for I could not say but it's nothing good. |

So I DVR'd the episode, and FFW'D to the hologram part. It didn't come across as a big OMG moment, nor do I think it was supposed to be one. It was more of a reference, a nod if you will, than "look - we're making a Prince joke". There was no punch line. I don't think it was bad or distasteful. It was certainly more tame than something Family Guy may have done.
Basically, it's whatever on this one. " don’t really care so much what people say about me because it is a reflection of who they r." |

PS I don't know if folks knew, but they also sang "Nothing Compares 2 U" in season 8 episode 8 "Finger Lenting Good": https://www.youtube.com/w...E-Ct1QiN4Y
None of this season is on Hulu it seems. Yet. You can buy it on Prime for $2.99. It's on the TBS app.
The scene is when the kids are at a rooftop party. It's a wide shot at first, and you can see the hologram. Then it's a close up shot of one of the kids talking about his party, and immediately mentions the hologram. The hologram says, "Ohh, tiny little sexual man..." and he does the splits. It's cute (not really a BAZINGA joke, though).
It's probably the 2nd or 3rd segment. I'm not sitting thru commercials just to find the time stamp. Y'all can do that.
