A vinyl re-release of "The Black Album" coming in December 2019? -- UPDATE: most likely BOGUS

https://www.juno.co.uk/pr...619951-01/

.

Gotta say, I find it odd that Warners(!) would release this. And the release date is nonsense (Christmas? Seriously?). So take this "announcement" with a massive bag of salt.

.

.

UPDATE: most likely this is an old listing which Juno keep updating with a new future release date.

I wasn't a fan back in 1994. If they press another limited run I'll be sure to buy a copy or two.

Of the over priced reissues - this and Gold are the ones I’ll buy. Kinda feel the black album should be on vinyl. Upgrade my bootleg CD.

thanks for the link, Bart. But, why not Christmas? It's not a "holiday" for everyone. For those who do celebrate Christmas, why not make an album re-release available on a day when people are still spending money for gifts?

Same. The Black Album's one of my 'big ones' that I'd be prepared to pay the silly new vinyl prices for. That and TGE, Versace and the two HITnRUNs.

Then you should be able to provide us with a long list of other such releases on that date of the year.

If this is genuine (which is debatable) chances are the documentation sent regarding it read something like "Release: Christmas 2019" and whoever put this entry up took it literally. If so, it'll probably be out late November / early December.

Don't get too excited - Juno have had this listing since the original batch of vinyl re-issues when The Black Album was on the roster, and they just keep bumping the release date by six months or more every time each release date comes and goes. Not happening guys, at least not yet.

That makes sense. IIRC Warners hasn't done a vinyl re-issue is a looong time, so for this to just turn up out of nowhere is not believable.

i did a search to find find an album released on christmas, and to your credit
there were none... i realize that record stores are closed, but i thought maybe digital releases would maybe have been made available on christmas day but none of those either...thanks for the lesson

You mean you haven't googled this topic before posting??? Can't believe it...

https://prince.org/msg/7/448492

Above is one example. And if memory serves me right, this was discussed several times before on the org. This is a known issue with Juno. You got my hopes up with the thread title, and I'm sure i'm not the only one.

Thanks for starting a useless topic.

LOL! Yeah, i've known about this link for about a year and a half. That thread is even on the first page of Google. It's old news. Someone didn't use Google.

Who would need a vinyl re-release of TBA?

It's the most b00tlegged record! (or was it?)

Why don't we have 24/96+ flacs of these tracks?

These music types are true incompetents; they cannot grasp what the market needs at what time.

Even this mixer got commnets about reverb: http://peachandblack.podb...interview/

I mean: why can't they simply churn out a record and do things exactly right?

There's plenty of examples of Prince records where corners weren't cut.

Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

As far as the release on Christmas being odd.. back in late 1987 when the Black album was about to be released at Christmas time, it was being promoted as "Prince's X-Rated X-Mas gift"

Some Prince fans like vinyl, and would like a legit vinyl copy of the album to listen to or for the collection or whatever. The Rhino vinyl re-masters were actually pretty excellent, and The Black Album just happened to be next in the sequence (sort of) in that it was originally lined up for release after SoTT came out.

Anyway it seems WB pulled the plug on that series of re-issues for whatever reason.
