Has anyone seen Prince's interview on The View 1999?

Can't post a link here, but type in "The View | Prince Interview 1999". Scroll down to 6th result where it sayss "The View | Prince Interview", by Rogers Nelson, 148k views, posted 1 year ago, runs for 7:21 mins.

What do you think of this interview? I found it interesting how he said he seeks "spiritual intimacy" with others than his wife. He still seemed in love with Mayte. He liked Lisa Ling's hair.

It seemed like word salad and nonsense back then. They divorced, end of.

I found it interesting. I didn't get the sense that he was still in love with Mayte at all. Loved her clearly, but, as they indicated, he'd had the marriage annulled before the interview. And looking back now I'm pretty sure they were on the outs (add to that, Mayte was not part of the Rave pay per-view-performance at all).

Anyway, I feel the same way about this interview that I do the RAVE album. He seems very somber and melancholy. Nice to see him make the rounds on TV but you can tell he's in a different place, in transition.

I saw it when it happened. It was really short. He did not stay long.

I believe that he and Mayte were done by this point. She was living in Spain, and he was in MN. The story is that he and Manuela had begun an affair at some point in 1998 or 1999.

Also, if you listen to Prince singing his cover of Red House - which he changes to Purple House - during the Rave 2000 NYE show you hear him sing "my Puerto Rican beauty don't live here anymore". Then it sounds like he says, "that's okay...I still got her baby...maybe not" eek

*

So, they were over by the end of 1999.

He says “Habibi” not “Her Baby”. Habibi is the Purple symbol guitars name.

Hmmm, but then why does he then say “maybe not” after the “Habibi” comment?? That would make no sense.

Have you watched and listened to the performance?? His words are actually quite clear....

Watch the clip. At 3:05 Prince begins singing..."I got a bad bad feeling, ohhh lord, that my, oh my little Puerto Rican beauty don't live here no more. Ha, that's alright, I still got...Habibi?? or her baby???... That's alright, let me take this one instead".

*

So, if he was actually saying "Habibi" and referring to his purple symbol guitar then that would seem to that imply Mayte took the guitar when she left. This would make more sense then him saying "her baby", because I don't see him saying something like that at all. It would also not be surprising as Mayte ened up with a boatload of his personal items after she left.

Not me....Prince. He said/sang those words smile

And have you checked out the goods formerly owned by Prince that Mayte has auctioned?? She's rolling in the loot obtained from that big sale.

Yes, I realized that once I watched/listened again and heard the "let me take this one instead" comment right before launced into the big solo on the blue cloud guitar. It definitely does imply that the Habibi hitched a ride with Mayte (along with many other items) when she left MN biggrin

True, good point. But, I do think in this instance he was referring to the Habibi guitar. He was playing another one during that song, so the "let me take this one instead" comment makes more sense. Plus, I just don't see him making any kind of derogatory comment about his child. When you listen to a song like Come Back you know he only had love in his heart for that baby.
