Sitting in this cafe, waiting for my baby I could listen to the live coda of Noon Rendevous for hours. What an astonishingly beautiful piece of art. It's perfect in a world where little is. Better than Alan Rickman in Die Hard. Why is it so evocative? Why does it break your heart? Why is it joyous yet meloncholy? Why does it ache and yearn? It's only a throwaway line ... sitting in a cafe? Waiting on his baby? Nothing to it. Maybe it's simplicity that makes it beautiful, the melody doing the work. Fuck sake it's so much better than Alan Rickman in Die Hard, miss you ya mad magical truly alive best of us crazy motherfucker.

It is stunningly beautiful. And that line catches me every time also. I wonder if Prince's studio version will capture that same perfection? Guess we'll find out in a few days, but the song does have a short running time on the Originals tracklisting.

I think it's the synths or pads or whatever. Very ethereal. Very dreamy. Prince's vocals are full of yearning, full of unending passion. The rhythm guitar is a plucky, tantalizing thing. It's sexual. It begs a question. Sometimes these feelings just well and well. How do we describe them? You just know he's gonna wait forever in that cafe. What kind of sound does that make?

Absolutely classic performance! Easily one of my favorite "unofficial" track releases!

I think he uses that line in one, if not more, of the Just My Imagination covers during the Lovesexy tour. I've always loved it too. TRUE BLUE

What's always funny to me, is that [on the 1st Ave-recording] he seems to start singing alone "waiting ON my baby" and when Wendy and Lisa set in, they turn it into "waiting FOR my baby". What's interesting to me is that Sheila E. used that part on the Purple Rain-Tour, BUT it never had any impact [in her version] on me, feels kinda empty there. The magic comes IMO with Prince's inbetween ad-libs and his GREAT guitar solo.
