Go away, kid.

Why?
You're the one stinking up the place and trolling every topic you post on.
Obviously you can't handle friendly discussions between people on a Prince-fan website so maybe you should take a breather and enjoy more of your life outside of the internet.
You come off as really stressed out in most of your posts.
I have no ill will towards you and you seem to want to pick a fight and troll on this site when ever someone posts something you don't agree with. You could just leave it and scroll past it.
And I'm not a kid so don't try to patronize me, you are the one coming off as some entitled Millennial douchy kid.

Wow. Looks who's telling me to take a breather because I come off as stressed out. lol Someone who's too busy being cheesed off to not get a Foghorn Leghorn reference (even though he says he's not a kid).

Take your own advice, sweetie.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

The Rave set is all re-issues of stuff we were already sold and thereotically already have (for 20 years now), it's hardly what people here mean when they speak of "deluxe" and "special" sets--there was nothing new musically.

That's because SOny doesn't have the rights to release any outtakes, only the released material.

I know what OP means and I can agree with the premise but I have to agree with most of the people here are saying as well. The well hasn't run dry yet on the PR era even if that's the only album of Prince's that receives any sort of attention.

I just hope the estate truly goes for broke with all PR affiliated releases instead of repackaging/rehashing prior releases for easy money. They have a fine line to tow between casual and hardcore.

actually almost nothing has been released.

even if they just do it once a year on the anniversary

release

1. The Dance Benefit show 1983

2. A disc of the videos

3. A soundtrack disco of the music as heard in the movie (with new photos etc)

4. A Purple Rain tour/show

5. A disc of all the award shows/performances/speaches

6. the First Avenue Birthday show 1984

7. A full length disco of the PR premiere, with performance by Sheila E and the Prince & the Revolution aftershow performance

8. Another deluxe of outtakes not included on the previous

I agree with you! Although I would love to see and hear Prince's releases outside of the Purple Rain era, I know that they haven't even scratched the surface of the vast amount of unreleased material for the year 1984!

Yes, even releasing the protege albums from the PR era with any outtakes(extended versions) Prince vocal versions, a performance or two...

Releasing some of these on the 'date' of performance would be a very cool move. Like the Birthday Show 1984 should have been released on Prince birthday, those would be very wonderful timed releases.

And I agree, I'm ready for more album deluxes too. Of course I want all I can have lol

I don't think the OP is just talking about 'deluxe' releases. They just are talking about anniversy stuff. Also we have to remember, a LOT of people are 'new' fans, people who missed these releases, etc. Just at my Barnes & Nobles, it's selling. I never had this either, even though I heard the album. And it's nice to have this set.

Someone needs to get serious and get busy releasing live material from any and every era.

Especially aftershow material.

A lot of artists have that ONE record that's beaten into the ground - Dark Side of the Moon, Led Zep 4, Thriller, Born in the USA. We've got the deluxe edition of PR and have had the Syracuse show forever. I'd really like to move on to SoTT and Parade outtakes along with the live stuff.

I'm Purple Rained the fuck out. It's a seminal work and utterly fantastic but I don't even think it's his best album.

There's no 35th Anniversary edition of Purple Rain, since the 30th Anniversary one was delayed so long!

So, maybe there will be a 5-year break from now until the 40th Anniversary! Perhaps by then, the Iron Mountain stuff is all digitized and ready for a really comprehensive set!

I wouldn't mind - if they found, let's say an acoustic studio version of Purple Rain, or WDC with bass, etc. to just drop that single or EP on us randomly (for purchase). I don't need things bundled onto an album, especially songs like Roadhouse Garden which were intended for another album called . . . Roadhouse Garden!
