The Black Sweat version that Prince had released from the Atlanta show was definitely better than the fan releases which were not mixed. They may have played some of the Atlanta shows, but I doubt that they were mixed to decrease the sound of the audience, which any good "live" recording will do, so that the crowd does not take away from the actual music itself.

I seem to recall P was quoted as saying at the party something like 'this show is being mixed to edit the crowd noise then we'll release it'

So yes, especially if this was one of his last wishes/statements this should be released in some form

It would be nice if the estate and/or Warner Bros could discover that cool technology that allows you to digitally remaster old film and thus release it on blu ray and not an outdated source of media sharing So older video can look good along with stuff like from 2013 or as you said

That title was used because of the intention to fully release the Paisley show(s) on video to Netflix or Apple Music (depending on how well the upcoming documentaries go) with an accompanying audio of the Atlanta shows as he intended. It's seen as a prelude or teaser.

Ava is working on the Netflix documentary still and according to what I have been told the First Ave 1983 documentary is pretty much finished and ready to go - and has been for around 2 years.

The first two P & M shows - the Gala shows January 21st, 2016 - especially the first one, are the shows where he really opens up, and literally walks through his childhood, teenage, and young adult years up through Purple Rain. He was sequencing the songs in order of the time frame. It's amazing to listen to him telling his story through the songs. I have listened to both shows, and they are fantastic - especially the first one. He opens up about his life and feelings. Even before performing The Beautiful Ones he stated, "don't let the fellas fool you. We all write songs to "cop" girls". He had denied the long held story of this song which was that it was (at least partly) written because the girl he wanted was in a relationship with another guy at the time.

The last two Atlanta shows are incredibly important too - by then he had really polished the show and was mixing things up. He was doing "mash-ups" of songs which sound amazing. Waiting in Vain and IIWYG is such a great mix. I also can't help thinking that on some level he may have known this might be his last big show. The fact that he ended with Purple Rain, and it was his strongest and most heartfelt version of the song on that tour is very telling.

He was reminiscing and opening up emotionally during many of these shows including the day after Vanity passed. His tribute to her was very touching. I think a Disc/release of the first two Gala shows and the last two Atlanta shows along with highlights of some of the other shows would be fantastic. I hope they get it together and do it.

Well I for one don’t want this rushed. Like I mentioned before, it needs to be done with tact and as part of a bigger project such as a documentary. (As it seems is hopefully the case)
