ONA nope he did a cover on that

The Truth No he has loads of help on that...

For You: Chris also wrote the lyrics for "My Love Is Forever" and Patrice Rushen did some synth on "baby"

Prince: Andre did backing vocals

Dirty Mind? No... Matt composed part of Dirty Mind and Lisa is on Head...

I do not think he did any album by himself...

This seems like an "piss on Prince" thread already. What do you want to say? That he's not good enough?

No that OP is unable to use a computer or unable to check their CD's or vinyl to read the actual credits.

This is a very valid observation; ver relevant to the level of discussions on this website.

Andre stated that he know he played on that album.

Not saying that Prince wasn't capable of doing it all by himself, because he could've.

It doesn't take nothing away from his talent.

MPLSound is probably the closest. I think the whole thing qualifies except for approx 30 seconds on one song.

I think andre worked closely with him on the first few albums, i was listening to an interview with pj jones who said that andre may have been hoping they'd have some sort of joint project but it was only prince's name on the cover. Prince said something in the RS interview that andre sang a harmony part on why you wanna treat me so bad that "you couldn't really hear" and then of course there was the do me debacle and the quasi admission that andre did something by giving him a gold record for controversy. Dirty Mind? I think the signature keyboard riff from the title song was composed by matt fink who also had a big hand in the synth work. Then, there are the rumours that prince left the tape machine running to record the time's rehearsals so he could sift through it for ideas. No one does it all alone, even when they do. I did an album solo but if you consider that i had no place to record without friends, wouldn't have had equipement without friends and wouldn't have had some of my skills without the help of manuals, teachers, role models..., no one is an island no matter what they say.

also, i would think that there are many songs where he did all the work himself but I don't know if there are any albums outside the piano and guitar albums, he was always surrounded by talent and people who helped him use his own talent, he was beyond blessed in that way. Most musicians have to waste years fucking around with posers and losers. Probably the best guitarist I've ever seen has had to go through band after band with limited luck, now that he has a band that he seems to not be all that passionate about, he's making some real headway but not without the talent of the other members and the hardwork of his manager who i assume does all the booking, all the travel arrangements all the financial work etc.,

One Night Alone was not entirely Prince. He did not play the drums.

Dirty Mind featured Morris on some drums and it's pretty well-established that Prince did not write Partyup, though I suppose that's still not officially the songwriting status of that song. Dr. Fink also came up with the keyboard part that inspired Prince to write the song Drity Mind and Fink also plays a keyboard solo. There are also some non-Prince backup vocals on Dirty Mind.

No, being closest doesn't mean that he did, by definition tbh.

i always liked his answer to dick clark who asked if he played all the instruments on his album, "maybe". The man did way more than enough, anything else is just nitpicking and splitting hairs.

Yeah but he also lied in that interview. But he did seem uncomfortable. But I do not see it as nick-picking. I see it as just being interested. In 1985, Prince admitted Andre was left off the credits on "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad?"

I find in interesting how he got some songs. A trade here or taking an idea and fleshing it out or giving credit.

That is why I like Tudahl's book.
