Seriously, is it that hard to just let people like what they like? I love “Purple Rain” too. It’s just that I love the other songs I posted more. This place is too toxic it seems to just celebrate what we love about the man’s music. I consider 'Purple Rain' to be overrated and barely ever play the song. In many respects both the song and album were an albatross for Prince and from my perspective, not particularly representative of his career as a whole. 'Sign 'O' Times' however, I find to be a far superior album and an excellent example of what Prince was really all about in terms of styles, sound and themes. Whatever, there are gems throughout Prince's career and only two or three of my top 50 would originate from the Purple Rain album.

Hell, I even put PR on my list because I felt obligated to do so. This forum would banish me to the outskirts if I didn't.

i agree 100% "Little Red Corvette" "When you were mine" "When doves Cry" "Condition of the heart" "The beautiful Ones" "I could never take the place of your man" should all be on any top 50 best Prince songs True. I've done as instructed. They are all present. I've kept mine to just commercially released tracks versions. Otherwise the 2009 Montreux Empty Room would be Top 20. This is actually a lot harder to do than I thought, but fun. Keeping to 50 - Actually impossible. I apologise to: Pop Life, I Wish U Heaven, DMSR, Lady Cab Driver, Girls & Boys, Vicki Waiting and a shedload of others. Putting them in order - Nose bleed impossible. I reserve the right to jiggle them about. And the order. I was tempted to put Solo as No.1 just to see all the abuse. 1 She's Always in My Hair (Ext. I think for me and a lot of us, it is a tribute to Prince that we could have made this a top 100 and still had battles with ourselves over what to leave in or out. Think of how many artists just have a couple of songs you like or a dozen songs that stand out but so many that mean nothing to you at all.

. You can only start to grasp the WDC genius when you've heard the non-Originals yet original version with the bassline and much more. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.
