It was my first Prince album, and I do mean 'ALBUM'. I got it on vinyl and still have it. Maybe I'll go home tonight and make passionate love to it. Hope the wife doesn't get jealous.

OMG...I was in the 7th grade when this album came out...a friend of mine brought it to school...she and I would stare, and I do mean STARE...at the album cover for hours, instead of paying attention to the teacher in class...I swear we studied that album cover inside and out...

Please 4give me if this aint the proper forum - but it is a link of sorts.
I have a large promo display 4 ATWIAD - its in good condition, and is the album cover printed on very thick card. Its about 3ft wide by about 1ft high. Has the release date info on the back etc. I currently have it displayed above my wardrobe, and have been debating whether or not 2 auction it off or not 4 a couple of years now... My questions are: 1) Anyone think it would be a mistake 2 get rid of it? 2) What do peeps reckon sumthin like that would go 4? Cuz I aint got a clue! Man, Prince was quick. I was still at the height of my Purple Rain mania when Around the World in a Day was released.
At first listen, I thought the album was good but obviously very different from my beloved Purple Rain and that was a bit disappointing. But after a few plays, it was clear that Prince had done it again -- I just had to forego my expectations. The songs that hit hardest on first listen were the title cut, "Condition of the Heart," "Raspberry Beret" and "Pop Life." Over time, I have come to all aspects of this album and couldn't imagine it being any other way. Happy Birthday, ATWIAD!!! We Love Ya!!! Peace, David

I was eaxctly the same.
I remember coming home, clutching my freshly factory sealed, pristine copy of ATWIAD on vinyl, and cueing it up, and listening 2 the opening bars of the title track (why oh why did He have 2 go and cut i down tho?) I was excited, bemused and at times a little dissapointed at times, as it wasnt what I expected. But Im glad, cuz he wouldnt be here 2day if he had cashed in on Purple Rain with PR2. A lesson was learnt that day, expect the unexpected. WHAT an album. 'Tambourine' STILL makes me smile, even tho I aint a frikkin clue what he's warbling on about! But THAT's half the fun of it all!

Yes, another GREAT Prince album..
interesting songs.. if I HAD to choose 1 favorite from this album, it would be "POP LIFE" (even then, I prefer the "Sheila E remix" to the original).. a close 2nd would be Tambourine & "Condition of the Heart".. then, the B-SIDES from this album were "album-worthy" themselves: She's Always In My Hair Hello GIRL & then there was that unbelievable TWENTY-ONE minute version of "America".. This album was JUST the type of album Prince should have made after Purple Rain.. if nothing else, it "weeded out" the "fair-weather" Prince fans.. & anyone else who expected him to do some sort of "Purple Rain II" HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AROUND THE WORLD IN A DAY! open your heart, open your mind.. I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS.. | |

This is a masterpiece! Everybody should have it, fam or not. And shout it out to everyone how beautiful this wonderful music is. Everytime I meet people who still think I'm weird because I love his music, I tell them: Did your favourite artist EVER make an Album like ATWIAD?
Praise and glory forever -----------------------------------------
