Weird Conversation With Chauffeur- prince in malahide This is beyond baffling, just got a chauffeur to Dublin airport and Prince came on the radio. I mentioned I was a huge fan and he said he was Prince’s driver when he lived near Malahide Dublin for a month in July ( the year he played there). He had a ton of information that only someone close would know such as his new camera that was shipped in before the concert that he used that day, the fallout with some technical crew and the rehiring that morning, and his love of popcorn etc.., Either the greatest bull shitter or speakING in the truth. He was a guy in his 60s and only knew one song, purple rain. I always thought he flew in from Paris and back that night. Any insights. It is wrecking my head as I live in Malahide THANKS

I've heard some of that before (firing the crew, hiring new ones but the old ones were there advising the new ones)....but I highly doubt he lived in Malahide for a month. Look at the tour schedule: Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

Look at the tour schedule: Thank you, I agree. I should have added this driver mentioned bringing him to the airport many times during the month as he had concerts abroad. He is saying he used Dublin as a hub...again I doubt all this and sorry for the crappy thread. I have to get to the bottom of this !!!

. Perfectly possible. Back in 1995 Prince drove from Amsterdam to Brussels for the aftershow in Vorst, while he had performed in Ghent the day before. Arrived hours late because there was a bit of a snowstorm. © Bart Van Hemelen

Don't forget they made a radio documentary about the gig: https://www.rte.ie/radio1...he-castle/, it doesn't mention Prince living there though. [Edited 5/20/19 12:49pm]

It is wrecking my head as I live in Malahide THANKS I was stuck in Dublin airport for 5 hours last summer and *almost* took a taxi out to Malahide just to pass the time. Turns out it was way too early in the day. Breakfast places not open until 9 a.m.?? So I didn't go. Thank god I didn't find out until much later that Prince played there. I would've been so disappointed. And the MUSIC continues...forever...

Amazing to think of Prince hanging out in Malahide so long, or at least using it as a base for hopping off around Europe etc. Not such a bad idea, very handy for the airport etc. The other story about Prince firing his guitar tech at the last minute etc, there's gotta be more to that story. I know a few good guitar techs around Dublin, including some big Prince fans who would have loved to get that call

I wouldn't be so quick to believe anything an Irish taxi driver says. They are the biggest bullshitters in the world.
