Is there a rock version of the song Come?

Just listening to the Bercy 1993 Aftershow and Come starts out as we know it but then it develops into a great rock groove. It sounds quite fleshed out - possibly worked out on tour, who knows. I'm wondering if a studio version exists.

Yes there is a rock/funk version & it blows away the released one imo. If you've heard the version he did at the DNA, SF show then you've basically heard the studio version.

Theres also an electronic version that is pretty redundant excpet for when the horns kick in.

Such a versatile and excellent song.

There were many recorded versions of 'Come' and a maxi-single was planned at one point. Several of these mixes and alternate versions are circulating on various boots. The rock/funk version is the best in my opinion.

It was on the 10,000 Wallpaper boot, and segues sublimely into Endorphinmachine

Thanks. I have that DNA boot but I recall it staying true to the released version. I'll have to seek out that rock/funk version some how. Thanks!

Exactly! I often wonder what the first 1993 configuration of 'Come' would've sounded like? Many of those versions and mixes had a different production and sound from the later released versions.

I just found this version on YouTube.

.

I have another version that's 4:43 long and I *think* it's the rock/funk version everyone is referring to.

If that is indeed the "rock/funk" version... then people should get their ears examined. smile

It's more an electronic version and it is vastly inferior to the released version, which is the funk version. The horns alone make the released version great. Of all versions of Come that I heard, the released version is the best. Prince chose well. (although he could have removed the ASMR cunnilingus sounds)

It's not. Check out the '10,000 Wallpaper' boot. But I still prefer the version on the 'Come' album.

The Glam Slam Ulysses versions are the best for me. Including Race that was played over the P.A. before the one off performance in Barcelone, estandard in 1993.
