It's possible they don't have permission yet. Ok mods may we ask if the org has contacted or has been contacted by the family or estate about this? Has Ben asked?

I think I had read in the investigation docs that one of the associates stated he would come here to look for reviews/reactions to his shows and/or releases. If he did, I'm sure he surfed on other threads as well smile

Makes me think of his LA Musicology show in 2004 when he was playing his acoustic set and during the song Forever In My Life he said,

god love him but he loved playing with women, one of his less than stellar traits. Anyway, it's very strange or maybe that's why, a controlling person like that would look at a site like this. I've never heard of springsteen or michael or anyone really caring what everyday people were talking about.

ya, he couldn't do shit right according to these assholes, I'm still angry about that. The people here just waited, rubbing their palms together, for whatever his next move would be so they could find fault with it. Never understood his "fans", people dislike elvis or springsteen but you don't see them hanging out on fan sites dedicated to those men.

I always see this sentiment expressed, but honestly I've been visiting various superfan artist/band forums since before I was a teen and literally every single one is hypercritical of the artist's work after, say, the first ten years of their career. The Org is pretty standard "fan" fare in that regard.

this bad? I don't know. You're right to an extent, Elvis' fans said his stuff in the sixties sucked but you don't find them riding his shit on current boards, maybe because he's dead, on the mj forums they didn't treat him that bad, springsteen they didn't either. One thing is common though, fans do act like they own an artist, like they know what's best for them, that part is universal. Really, if any star listened to any fans, they'd just end up confused because the opinions are all over the place. Springsteen is solo (again) and I'm sure some of his fans have something to say about that but he's a grown man, he can do what he wants and we don't have to buy the stuff if we don't want. The idea that they owe much more than that to us I think is immature. Not to say they are above criticism and should only be fawned over, not saying that at all. but the shit on here was so petty and relentless that I took action and got my asshole banned.

He also had a hefty dose of narcissism in him, which would cause him to want to know what people were saying about him and his music. He always said he never cared about that, but I don’t think he was honest about that either.

well, you know they say schizoid people (about all rockstars, not just Prince) are aloof and hypersensitive at the same time, he certainly was bugged by critics "not getting" him. No one likes criticism but it really seemed to irk him, sometimes I wonder how he'd like to try some of the criticism i get on for size, and I don't get paid being a musician, people are just mean, you pretty much have to come to terms with that, which is hard for all of us.

I remember posting this back in 2014. I can't help but wonder if Prince took my advice.

"I love Ida, but Prince needs to hire MonoNeon. He could be to Prince what Bootsy was for James Brown. I'm going to keep repping this guy, because its ridiculous that someone this talented and adventurous is going unnoticed."

Yeah it could be really harsh sometimes, it used to upset me a lot. Some people clearly had an agenda, acted like Prince had done soemthing horrible to them personally, and had vowed to destroy his reputation both an a person and as an artist.

.

I remember at some point we had one new "Prince is over and done" thread a week, sometimes with 2 or 3 of then running on the front page at the same time and it was like people were sitting and wondering "OK, how am I going to rephrase it today so I can make a new thread about the same thing without the mods considering it a dupe?".

.

Very, very sad sad

Was this around the 1999-2001 time period? That was a rough patch for him.

Agreed. I have a couple other fan obsessions, and when I go to those forums I see the same things as here.

.

With that said, I don't mind some negativity. People should no more blindly love everything than blindly hate everything. The beaufy ot Prince's music is that it was so eclectic and diverse. There are bound to be songs you love and bound to those you hate. That's what makes his catelogue great.

People were critical of Prince because he was a real person and not some mythical God who was above reproach. You won't see criticism on most MJ boards because a lot of his more... dedicated fans view him as a saint. I don't think that's terribly healthy, and I'm glad it isn't like that on here. Prince released some sub-par stuff over the years, and got criticism for it. A lot of his fans held him to the insanely high standard he set in the 80s and his prime. Was that fair? Maybe not, but it is what it is.
A certain kind of mellow.

Well, that's one way of looking at it – but another is that most of us here are actually studying this man's work for decades and revealing the screen names he used here would not reveal any of his personal information that we wouldn't already know, while it would provide additional information for our studies.

Friends don't let friends clap on 1 and 3.

I agree. My overarching sentiment is that if you have a tendency to take anythng an anonymous fan says personally, then its best to stay away from all fan sites, boards and social media.
