Remember he did it all himself through hard work, creating something and someone the world had never seen and he lived his creation 24/7. The drive, determination and musical skills were his. However, as we’ve learned over the years, he had many who helped him climb that ladder, and many who inspired his songwriting. So, in truth he didn’t do it all by himself. He was smart enough to find and surround himself with the right people in his early years and through his climb to rock star status. * I agree with most on this thread - the cover is perfect, especially to connect with his own words about his childhood, which is as far as he got before he passed. We’ve all seen hundreds of the professional shots. It’s so nice to see a vintage “real” picture of him that we haven’t seen before. I hope there are more in the book.

Warner Brothers owns the rights of the five soundtracks in perpetuity.
"[Prince's] 2014 deal with Warner, had different terms for certain albums, making it incredibly complex: Warner retained the rights to soundtrack albums to Warner Bros. films — including Prince’s biggest-selling albums Purple Rain, Parade, and Batman – in perpetuity." Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

Shockadelica9 said: So what do you guys think will be in the book, I know it will delve into his Ancestry I think, based on the “teaser”, Prince’s contribution will be more creative prose than standard Auto-Biography style writing, and may be more cryptic in nature. It would be great if there is a “Family Tree” graphic included with pictures of some of his relatives. Hoping he gives more insight into his childhood. He gave some tidbits on the P&M tour and in past interviews, but more would be good. * I don’t have high expectations for the parts not written by Prince, as I think it will be more of the same that we’ve seen in other Biographies - unless there is information from key people who have not contributed stories in the past, and/or if there are never before seen pictures.

I'm looking forward to this and will buy it but not getting too excited as it won't cover past P's early years. I'm most interested in who P was his last 5-10 years...the man he became after such a remarkable journey. We hear story after story about 80's and 90's Prince...the good, the bad & the ugly. I know I am not the same person now as I was at 25 and I would hate if that's all people remember me for. Don't get me wrong, he was completely fascinating as a young man but he matured and I'd love more info on 40's and 50's Prince.

So it depends on whether P's book is single spaced or double space.

When Prince signed the contract for this book, he submitted a 50 pages treatment. . And it was announced months before he died. If it was announced, the I think the book was scheduled to be released something like 12 months after. So that means that Prince never wrote anything more than the initial 50 pages treatment? Even after his almost death experience in a plane? Or is it possible Prince wrote more ( including name of future chapters, Synopsys, etc) but he never sent it to his ghostwriter or to the editor ? Maybe more pages are somewhere in the vault, or under his bed...

lastdecember said: Yeah from what it seems this was what Prince was working on those last months-year, again I know people dont like to hear it but I do think he knew he was on borrowed time, with people dieing left and right we know from Tavis Smiley that Michael J dieing did effect Prince and though we dont think PRINCE was human, like a human getting older and noticing he is not able to do things he could be it because of pain or whatever, he was losing the only thing he could really do in life. So he may not of thought he was gonna die but i think Bowie dieing, Vanity dieing all these people going, getting older, in pain, and now this addiction that he thought he alone could overcome, I think what he was writing was an account of just who he was, and not all the stuff that happened after he blew up in the world, that person that got there. SO i hope people are not expecting details of relationships with Shelia and Wendy and Lisa stories etc...because I doubt anyone but family is gonna be in this book. Just so you know...the word is spelled “dying” not “dieing”.

Prince(r.i.p.) only announced his forthcoming memoir, barely a month before his tragic shocking transitioning into his afterlife. Which was expected to be released by the fall of the following year. So he was going to continue writing more as the months came along. Disappointedly he wasn't able to complete it. "That mountain top situation is not really what it's all cracked up 2 B when was doing the Purple Rain tour had a lot of people who knew 'll never c again @ the concerts.just screamin n places they thought they was suppose 2 scream."
