Video Quality Of Rave Un2 2000?

Help please. I never got this DVD but I[m tempted to buy the "Ultimate Rave" set. BUT, the video quality on youtube for this concert is abysmal. In all honestly what is the quality of this footage?

It's video, not film, for one. It's just like any other video PPV, and frankly the Aladdin DVD has a better filter on it than the Rave DVD. It is what it is, and it's home video. I'm surprised they never put some sort of film filter on it or tried to make it look slightly better. Janet Jackson's the Velvet Rope Tour from Madison Square Garden looks 100x better than the Rave video. (I keep emphasizing that for a reason.) It's part of Princestory, but shit - even Graffiti Bridge looked better. haha

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

It's fine. I never had a problem with it anyway. ALways thought it was rather underrated to boot and never really understood all the shit it gets. Only thing I dislike about it is the fast editing and all the quick cuts.

And those pointless slo-mo sections!

I just rememberd, I also have the original PPV broadcast on VHS before the DVD ever came out.

It's good quality, and has a far far superior image to Aladdin.

Agree. The Blies Medly gets me every time.

"Ah my little Puerto Rican beauty don't live here no more. Thats alright, I got Habbibi". Then into a blistering solo.

Classic Prince.

Yes. But only to be expected - was anything broadcast in HD at that time? And DVD is only SD.

Still holds up pretty well, though. And there (unbelievably) has been no better Prince release in the subsequent 19 years.
