Every tv appearance Prince added a little something extra

Was watching facedown 97 from the Chris Rock Show which somebody had shared on facebook (it's on youtube if you seek it)

I just wanted to say I loved how every tv performance or awards show, there was a new vocal inflection, a new riff, costume or dance step that was different to the album version.

I think of the aforementioned face down which has so much energy, the Arsenio Hall show version with the killer daddy pop, and the purple balloons in the piano, the fall backwards into the crowd for the RRHOF while my guitar gently weeps, the amazing covers and the shilouette with the guitar for the superbowl, the custome and attitude of SNL's Electric Chair (love that performance), the all girl band plus Prince for the Brit Awards 2006, the amazing Purple Rain performance at the American Music Awards.

With Prince you never knew what you were gonna get (the Brian Gumble performance in glasses and conservative clothes), yes you did quality! I think he even guested at Lilith Fair unless I am wrong about that. Oh and if it counts as it was a music video, the incredible version of America trench and hat, blue guitar, and captaining the drum stool.

Mikado

It was definitely nice to see him pop up different places after the 80s where he was very quiet (though the 80s was the decade of the recluse pop star).
A certain kind of mellow.

laytonian

When he played Dolphin on Letterman, he got irritated with Dave and didn't want to talk to him after the performance. So he had Morris play a gunshot at an appropriate time, pointed his finger to his head, dropped to the floor and then his "body" was drug away.

Or chewing gum any time he had to lip-synch (like Billy Jack Bitch).

Or the ass-out pants.

Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.
