Prince CDs You Would Buy Again if You Lost Them? So, for the last two weeks I had a rental car and had Ultimate Prince the 2nd CD in - the 12 inch collection - most of the time.
So I'm looking for the CD this morning and I I left in the freaking rental car! And I'm usually so vigilant about that sort of thing. But obviously not this time.
I guess I'll have to buy the CD again because that 12 inch collection is jamming!
So y'all?
What CD (I'm not talking about buying an upgraded CD or getting it on vinyl) would you DEFINITELY run out and buy again if you lost it??
Or which ones would you definitely NOT buy again? [Edited 4/5/19 10:09am] [Edited 4/5/19 10:35am]

There is absolutely zero chance of my losing any unless my house burns down (since the e-versions are the only ones that travel), but I would probably re-buy every one of them. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Couldn’t live without lovesexy the gold experience, come, emancipation, love symbol... really very attached to these ones. And crystal ball actually. Unsure why but these are the ones I find myself reaching for no matter what.

I'll tell you one thing, though - I'd be a heck of a lot more devastated if I lost any of my vinyl (some of which is quite rare and valuable). Most of the CDs pale in comparison - and a lot of them are albums for which I also have the vinyl. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Very good question. I guess I need a copy of every album. But the ones I‘m most fond of lately are ONA...Live!, The Rainbow Children, Art Official Age and SOTT. See the man with the blue guitar, maybe one day he`ll be a star...

I own every Prince CD. I wouldn't rebuy any of them if I lost them for the simple reason, I don't listen to CDs anymore.

if i could just get the music without the packaging? none. if I had to buy the packaging (not) I would buy everything. It amazes me, as big a fan as I am, when i think I have 98 percent of his released stuff, I'll come across something that I forgot about that i don't have. Happened recently with, I think it was a release in 96 or 97, haven't really listened to it. To truly have everything, I'd have to have all the times' albums, all of sheila's pp albums, vanity, etc.., it really is mind boggling how much music the man created.

I used to have the ona set, not the real expensive one with the studio ONA album but the live set, four cd's I think, i sold it but I have on comp. That was kind of a cool time to be a fan, he was sort of off the radar but preparing to ambush the music world again with musicology. this was prince not playing the hits game and excelling as much as ever. Personal faves are the piano sections, the performance of Strange relationship but the whole thing is pretty good.

I have 4 back-up copies of my music collections in 3 different places and 2 countries, so I can't possibly lose my music collection unless civilization ends. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

And I'm not paying anything to anybody. I keep all my music on various storage devices. External hard drive for the car, sd card for my phone, my computer for the home. No streaming.

I'm very fond of my physical copy of Crystal Ball, but since it took me years and a bit of luck to find the one I own I don't think I would spend all that time searching again. Although I do love all my physical copies of music I own, I don't actually play them. I put the music on my computer and Ipod, etc and listen that way so Idk if I would ryn out and replace any of the cd's at this point. It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

Yeah. And digital medium with backup copies at different places is actually safer than physical records. Not that people get robbed or that their house burns every day, it's super rare, but it remains a risk that is entirely avoided with digital collections. And you can travel the world with your complete collection if needs be. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

That's why I opted for @320 over Flac (given that I can't hear the difference anyway). My whole music, movies and series collection fits on an 8TB drive, which I can carry around. I have a large CD Collection. Not just Prince but of The Beatles, Elvis, Grateful Dead, etc. . . If i lost all my Prince CDs. I'd buy back all of them. There isn't an album by Prince that doesn't have some sort of redeemable quality to me. Shoot. If my house was on fire and i could only save a few of my CDs, i'd make sure all my Prince CDs are safe The Wind and the willow's playing Tea for Two. The Sky Was Yellow and the sun was blue

I'd owned Every Prince CD through Lotusflow3r. Sometime after that I decided to swtich all of my music to digitial, so I ripped all the CDs to my hard drive and then sold them off. I'm a minimalist (I hate owning physical possessions), so this seemed like a good idea at the time...
