The first three albums. He could sing in a higher octave without hitting falsetto. Stuff like "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad", "Uptown", "Dirty Mind", "I Wanna Be Your Lover", "With You", and especially "Bambi" would be so rich in a different way.

But yeah, so many could be better... or at least different.

If you're talking about the little guitar demo on a shitty tape recorder, ...okay then. But the other version is Mazarati singing, that Prince added his vocals to, and the hook-y guitar. However, the version we know with his more natural voice would be pretty hot to hear.

Not sure why this popped into my head first, but Jam of the Year would be significantly better without the false. That song had tremendous potential but the studio version is lacking.

JOTY and Get Yo Groove On sound better live in his lower voice IMO

yep, i would definitely wanna hear songs from Dirty Mind without falsetto. like Uptown, Gotta Broken Heart Again, Do It All Night, Party Up...shit, "Sister" would be so dark with a more masculine vocal tone

i wanna be your lover, it's strange but I cover that song, i do it both ways, sometimes in the same performance and for whatever reason, the audience always perks up when i go into falsetto after starting in normal voice. Women, for whatever reason, like a man who sings in that voice. Maybe it helps them relate or something, i don't know.

You can hear BAMBI in P's "natural register" if you find the audio of the Rolling Stones second opening performance (11 Oct 1981). When they came back after the first disaster, they played everything in a more rock vein and P ditched the falsetto.
