The Prince Army
At the end of April, The Prince Army as you have come to know and love it will cease to be. Thank you all for your incredible support since our founding in February 2014.

Does anyone know why they are shutting down?

I just took a peek at the about page, it looks like it is run by Michael Van Huffel who worked for Prince doing artwork I believe? I remember reading (probably on the PRN Alumni page) that he has an illness so I am wondering if running the page is just too much for him. There's almost 50K members there, curious why he isn't just passing the page along to someone else to manage. Some people have posted asking why so maybe he will answer.

Michael does not run The Prince Army.

I don't know why, so this is speculative.
What I do know is the Estate has asked quite a few people to not use the symbol or variants of that in their logo, or to use Prince's name in their name in such a way that makes it sound like it's possibly officially sanctioned.
It sounds to me that they will do something new under a new name rather than shut it down, the wording "as you know it" implies that.
