June 13, 2019 sees the release of Batman on native 4K in time for the 30th Anniversary.

All of the other '90s Batman films will also be released on N4K at the same time.

Naturally we'll all want to know if the soundtrack will also be re-issued in any form.

So it means these films are going to look amazing!!!!

The Tim Burton films will be particularly good as he created a lot of depth and shaddow. Whereas Joel Schumacher's will also look phenominal as he used a lot of light and colour.

I hope it doesn't take another 30 years to get an 8K release!

I didn't know that Batman Returns was inspired by the 66 series. However the word "plagiarism" is somewhat unappropriate because those comics adaptations are derivative of the source material, and the source material is often derivative of itself. For all we know this story originated in a Batman comic of the 50's or 60's, and elements from past interpretations of a character will necessarily surface again in later adaptations.

I watched them all again 6 years ago and I wasn't too excited about what I saw.

Batman has a great nostalgia appeal but has aged awfully by comparison to modern super-hero movies. The fight scenes look terribly slow and Bruce Wayne is waaaay too gentle to be a believable Batman.

Batman Returns is a great Tim Burton movie but a poor Batman movie: it only works if you accept it as an unrealistic, gothic fairy tale, and the plot doesn't make much sense. It's visually stunning, of course.

Batman Forever did nothing to me anymore, it was just a soulless blockbuster that didn't bring anything to the Batman mythos as far as I was concerned. And I really hate how the 2 villains are little more than clowns.

Batman & Robin was the only one I'd never seen before, due to its awful reputation. I was actually surprised as how radical it is aethetically. I've read that Schumacher really intended to shoot a children's cartoon and instructed the actors to act accordingly, and everything in it is so artificial, so plastic, so ridiculous that it almost makes it look like an experimental film by some contemporary artist trying to tackle the Batman mysthos. I wouldn't go as far as to say I liked it or that I'd ever watch it again, but it was, well... interesting!

I must say I never was a fan of the 66 series or pre-Neal Adams (not to say pre-Frank Miller) Batman comics. The Batman I got to know and love in the comics is the darker version of the character. So of course that defines my expectations. I haven't read any of those in ages but I remember really loving everything Chick Dixon did with the character and its cast in the 90's. As a comics fan, I must also say that the first live action of any Marvel or DC comic that I truly enjoy as a proper adaptation was X-Men in 2000. Before that every movie or show either looked cheap to me, or worked only because it took the character elsewhere, such as Batman Returns being "Batman by Burton" or Superman III being pure comedy.

Wouldn't say that's plagiarizing, since it's all Batman. That's like Prince sampling his own recordings...on the Batman soundtrack

It's going to be a 2-disc set. One disc will have the 4K version. The second disc will be the current Blu-Ray, with all the extras on it. All 4 pre-Nolan Batman movies will be 2-disc sets like this.

The big selling point for this release might be the 4K disc, with the new transfer. I say "might be" because a new 4K scan sure sounds like an ideal situation, but there's all sorts of processing and fiddling that can happen by studio people that can ruin the benefits of going 4K. I will be waiting for a couple of reviews before I take the plunge on this one.

And if I do buy the new 4K disc, it'll only be the first movie. "Batman Returns" I already have on Blu-Ray... I got that mostly for sentimental reasons, and the BD presentation is good enough to where I don't feel like I need to upgrade. "Batman Forever" and "Batman & Robin" are both dumpster fires that I cannot watch ever again.
