Negativity

I have noticed several thread recently about 'worst songs', 'worst albums', 'worst outfits' etc. Why?
The genius has left us with so much, why do we have to look for the worst in things? There's so much inspiration, beauty, uplifting, joyful emotions he has left us. Why does anyone need to look for the negatives rather than looking and acknowledging the gift we have all been given?
These are gifts that nobody should have access to but due to Prince we do.
Celebrate rather than dismiss.

Honestly, it's probably just human nature. He's deceased, so people have no qualms about saying or posting negative things. But, one could say that in fact it's more insulting to talk negatively about someone who can't defend themselves.

He had “worse” songs while he was still with us. No different than today.

I actually enjoy some of these worst threads. The worst songs thread made me go back to songs I hadn't listened to in awhile. Even a thread based on negativity can inspire positivity. Like Wow.

Positivity is just as stupid (if not more so), than negativity. Fake it till you make it is foolish and will get you little. Being honest is not negativity. There is truth and then there is hiding your head in the sand of positivity. Truth is not always positive. Truth is alway positive. Free your mind.

I agree with the OP. Think we could take a break from the word horrible/horribly in regards to Prince as well. Hyperbolic is the stupid new normal.

I see where you're coming from but to completely ignore the fact Prince, as good as he was, also had some fucking awful moments is just delusional. And, as Prince fans, sometimes the question must be asked just how a man as talented as he was could come up with such awful material. I mean, nobody is perfect but sometimes specific discussion about how the guy who wrote such classics as Computer Blue, Let's Work and Sign O The Times could also write Jughead is warranted.

Just because he's dead we shouldn't pretend that everything he did was a MASTERPIECE. Well, there is one guy like that on here but he's a special case. But for the rest of us, acknowledging that Prince was not perfect and discussing his failures helps us to better appreciate the times when he got it right.

My take is there's more than a few Prince albums(not so much), songs, looks etc, that don't float my boat, but i have no interest in starting threads about them. AND i say this with no disrespect or side looks whatsoever, towards the people who do start those(as the OP described) type of threads. It's just that for the most part, i don't have the energy to go there. Prince is dead. And i figure that if did go there, i should have done it while he was alive. For me that time has passed.

Anyway, it is what it is. And i don't see too much harm in those type of threads.

I agree with the OP:

I am very tired of the so called negative threads as well.

I believe the more serious people has left the org long time ago.

For me, I am not that active anymore, but of course it's not because og "negativity" here,

More I can't enjoy discussions (the good ones) like I used to when Prince was alive.

The spirit has left me to a digree, I am still shocked by the death of Prince, almost 3 years ago now..

Ok, I no I am far from the only one being sad, right.. most of us are sad once in a while I believe... sad

Back on the discussion, I dislike threads "Prince's worst song", "worst image", "worst this or that".

Enough for today, I am sad.. but the sun is shining, I am out now..

I think it's fun because Prince is usually so awesome that it's hilarious seeing him be so spectacularly and strangely awful at times. Us just sitting around constantly lauding his brilliance in an echo chamber would get old pretty fast I think.

Plus I love "so bad they're good" movies so UTCm and GB alone are worth discussion for me.

None of that is new to the org. In fact prior to 2016, it could get even worse. One had to have a pretty thick skin to hang out in PM&M in general, it could get quite brutal. Ignore it the best you can if it really bothers you and participate more in the threads that you enjoy, even if when they're sparse.

Why are you making a negative thread criticizing other peoples choices? Why can't you just put all your energy in to celebrating positive threads?

.

This shit could go on all day...
