Of these two, definitely Sexuality... . Let's Work is a decent song, but Sexuality has that "Prince thing" about it. Twenty other artists/bands could have delivered Let's Work, but no one else could have dropped Sexuality.

"Lets Work" was a song..."Sexuality" was Prince's credo and mission statement at the time...if an inquiring alien ever asks me to play one Prince song that would best represent the artist's music and career, "Sexuality" would be it...

I agree 100% yep...its almost like Sexuality picks up lyrically where Uptown left off

I love both...but Let’s Work I guess wins.

If we bring HEAD into the mix then they are both off the table!!!!

lol yep like what RJOrion said. Sexuality was a 'credo & mission statement' song. It definately feels like a continuation of the utopian athems Uptown, and how the both were foundational themes in his music.
Our Clothes Our Hair Everybodies Going Uptown Set Your Mind Free!!! .
C'mon everybody, yeah, this is your life
I'm talking about a revolution we gotta organize We don't need no segregation, we don't need no race New age revelation, I think we got a case I'm ok as long as you are here with me

I love how you get the 'doctrine' continued in each era up until 1987 Dream Factory/SOtt Lovesexy had it but it definately morphed into something else after 89 that 88-90 New Power thing
in 1982 Purple Music would be the continuation of Uptown - Sexuality I think. Do u think there was a released song from the 1999 era that does?

Yes I can completely agree with the comment below. I will go for sexuality. Love the guitar, and Prince rudeboy persona comments about the tourists at disneyland, half of the staff of their brain are on vacation, and the inventors of the accujack. Long live quirky Prince funk!

Let's Work by miles... (and I don't mean Davis). 'Sexuality' isn't bad either, I think the music of has a certain Elvis je ne sais quoi to it. On a side-note, Prince only occasionally performed 'Sexuality' live in later years, changing it as 'Spirituality' circa 2006-2007. Life Matters

Right - during that time and until the end he changed all of his songs that originally had "raunchier" lyrics, or he just didn't play them at all

ugh, I shivered when I heard that
And rushed to put together a playlist of every Sexuality performance

I always think about Free or Moonbeam levels (Would have loved moonbeam levels on 1999 instead, but Prince seemed to have a special place for free.

Prince told the story of how 1999 came about during is interview with Larry King in 1999. He said he and some friends had been watching a movie about "dooms day" coming in the year 2000, and the friends were getting all serious about it, but he was like, no we're just going to keep on partying and we'll be fine - or something to that effect. * I think Free was more of his patriotic stance on how much we have in America compared to many other places around the world - not sure about it being the "doctrine" or continuation of Uptown. I think the song "Let's Go Crazy" was more connected to Uptown or Sexuality. * "Let's go crazy, let's get nuts, look for the purple banana 'til they put us in the truck..."

yes, it was a continuation of beliefs (doctrine) by Prince How would Free not be connected to Uptown (our clothes our hair we don't care it's all about being there, set your mind free...) I mean all these songs connect. It is evolving expressed belief system. It is not contradition. . Free was about 'patriotic personal freedoms' not material wealth . In places where you are not "Free To Change Your Mind" you're also not free to change your clothesm your hair, or have a we don't care mentality" . We need a new breed, leaders, stand up, organize, the song Sexuality is about freedom and . Free 2 change my mind (Free 2 change your mind) . and the purple doctrine or canon continues into Purple Rain themes and into ATWIAD themes and so forth

Yes, I see what you're saying. I just connect the song Free more with his patriotic mantra songs like America - Free being more of a ballad and America an upbeat "pop" track. * Uptown/Sexuality/Let's Go Crazy seem to me to connect more with his party mantra songs - as in, let us dress and party like we want to...let us go crazy and have fun while we can in the way that we want to have fun - don't put any boundaries or controls on our styles or behaviors. * To me, Free always seemed to be a more serious song and more about the way our country is governed, and Uptown or Sexuality seemed to speak more about the social norms and stereotypes of our culture.

Yeah some songs might take on a more patriotic vibe, but that doesn't mean they have to lumped in catagories.
America takes on a more 'social' commentary, Free is not really like America, Free, if you read the lyrics is about celebrating personal freedoms in this country. Ronnie Talk 2 Russia & America run closer together.
And Sexuality does pick up the chant of Uptown, but not a party vibe, it is more of a song of social/community angst. Momma Are U Listening? Sexuality is almost 'conservative' in a way, while bringing in his apocolyptic message, Sexuality is more of a 'ok we said party up in Uptown, but be warned, their are some cautions too'
We live in a world overrun by tourists
