I guess it's a matter of personal sensibility. Do you go to your loved ones' tomb? I certainly don't, it's meaningless to me, but other poeple need the landmark to pay their homage. It's all a matter of symbols and rituals in the end.

I remember once going to Jim Morrisson's tomb in Paris in 1992, out of curiousity. He'd been gone for 21 years yet there was a group of hippies, young and old, singing songs on guitar and smoking joints! And the stone as well as the other stones around it were covered with graffitis honoring the late artist. It was a funny scene to observe. Now 25+ years have passed since that day and I wonder if, nearly 50 years after the singer's death, you still have people on that gravestone every day or if the hippies have finally given up. Anyone been there of late?

I was there last weekend, still a decent sized crowd around his grave, more than anyone else buried there. It's sectioned off so you can't touch it or go too near it.

While at Paisley Park, one can feel his energy everywhere. I don't think he is residing in the urn, though a nice burial site would feel right.

I wonder if removing them from public view has something to do with the cost of security. One reason he wasn't buried near his family was security and traffic. Not having his special mausaleum (replica PP) with him in place seems like another loss. An emptiness. My guess it has to do with the ongoing cost of security.

I believe eventually Sharon will get her wish. A mausaleum is an EXCELLENT idea! It will show the proper respect to Prince's(r.i.p.) legacy.

I don't see how it wasn't secure where it was, unless PP has been broken into at night. It was completely unreachable (and basically un-seeable) without a ladder. No need to remove it now just to build a mausoleum somewhere else. Big question mark.

If all's well with PP then that's the only other explanation that makes sense to me right now.

Unbelievable and infuriating to me that they moved his urn to the basement. I was against the urn intially, until I walked in the doors of Paisley and saw it front and center in the foyer. It was jolting,but I will ever forget that moment. Completely unexpected to me, I broke out in rivers of tears. The tour guides were so new they almost panicked and came over with boxes of tissues. It was in the early days of Paisley's opening and there was little to no security. It was well cased and highly visible. I call b.s. on security being the issue. I have this uncomfortable feeling that persons in the family are trying to almost distance us from our Prince memories...create a more commercial "Prince" that may be more marketable but NOTHING like who he really was. PP was full of his spirit when I was there in 2016. I'm almost afraid to go back now, particularly since I read this.

When I was at Paisley, the urn was still in the foyer and there was essentially no noticable security. I literally could have walked upstairs if i had really wanted to. I accidently got separated from my initial tour group and just merged in with another one. I cannot fathom how security is even an issue with this. It's a power play at the expense of us fans. So angry at Omarr- who is he to decide when our period-the world's period-of mourning is over?

I just can't imagine what would still make people uncomfortable. You can't see it, it had to be pointed out. And it was wsy smsller than i thought it'd be given the big deal made about it. I really wanted to see it actually. Sad, since others have said even the original smell is gone. Im sure they're planning something and keeping plans under wraps which probably is best.

Watch for building permits at Paisley; they can't build a mausoleum or columbarium without a permit. Luckily, since Paisley is in an industrial park zone, that shouldn't be a problem.
