Which parts of prince songs always make you well up?

I know this is all subjective but there are certain parts in prince songs that always put a tear in my eye especially if I myself am not in a great place at the time would be interested to hear what yours are?

I'm just like everybody else I need love.....and water.

The part in 'style' when he says "so let me stop" and then plays a guitar line.

The vulnerability in his voice when he sings a particular song plus the lyrics (e.g. Sometimes It Snows in April and I Love U But I Don’t Trust U Anymore).
"I want to be the only one you come for...."

There was a woman from the ghetto
Who made funny faces just like
Clara Bow, how was I to know
That she would wear the same
Cologne as you and giggle the same
Giggle that you do?
Whenever I would act a fool, the fool
With a condition of the heart
Thinking about you driving me crazy
OHHHHH-OHHHH
My friends all say it's just a phase, but oh ohhhhh
Every single day is a yellow day
I'm blinded by the daisies in your yarrrrrd
There was a girl (There was a girl in Paris)
Whom he sent a letter to (Whom he sent a letter to)
(Hoping she would answer back)
She never answered back and now (wasn't that a foolhardy)
SHEEEE-HEE-HE-HEEEEE-HEEEEE
..... got a condition ....of the heart....

You are the only thing that keeps me goin'
You are the only thing that keeps my love alive
You are the only thing that I'll ever need
You don't have to worry, you see, my love is forever

Mr. Nelson, Mr. Nelson, can you hear my voice?
Sir, we know you're a little bit groggy
And you're probably going to find it hard to speak
But don't try to talk or process too much now
We just want to let you know that the medication you were given
Has put you in a suspended animation for quite some time
Well, in fact, about 45 years
But where you are now
Is a place that does not require time
That being said, you are completely safe
And we are here to help you

45 plus his age when recorded = 100 years.

I don't think they "always" do, but there's a few Prince songs that pretty frequently get me all teary eyed. Or close to it. One is Gold. Specifically the chorus and verses 2 and 3. Those things give me chills every time.

Another one is The Love We Make. Verses 4 and 5. cry

And then there's It's Gonna Be Lonely. The part in verse one, where he talks about it taking forever to get you off my mind. That and the part about the insecurity. Oh, and the first three parts of verse 2. The kicker though, is the ending. Where he singing it's gonna be lonely, baby, so lonely, baby. And the ooh ooh(probably spelled it wrong, but y'all get it) ending part. That song(music) has been turning me into a little girl cool for damn near 40 years. cry I guess i was a sensitive kid.

There's more, but I'll leave it at this. Annie Christian. That whole song gets to me. Especially the music. And doubly the ending guitar part(right after the last vocals). That and the ending claps, piano and synthesizer(especially the fade out synth sounds). To my ears AC is one of the best new wave, post punk, punk funk, electro funk, or whatever the hell you wanna call it, songs ever made. The whole atmosphere of that song is...strange?Or to me. Moving.

Rest in Peace Bettie Boo. See u soon.

i feel the same way about Annie Christian...he's playing some tritones and diminished chords on guitar and keyboard that give it that dark sound...masterpiece

"I wanna make you a pretty, pretty coat of cashmere.............Cause you got to know how I feel about you baby"

That bolded line delivery. That and the violin stab just right before the guitar solo tears me up every time.

The Holy River: 'People say they love U and the want 2 help / but how can they when U can't help Urself / The more they say they love U / The more U just want 2 die'. Having dealt with depression, I can relate deeply with those lyrics.

hug Depression is so horrible. If you've never had it, it's mystifying. If you have, it's mystifying.

The part in Still Would Stand All Time that says "so many times, I thought I could not make it, life was closing in, I just knew, I just knew I couldn't take it"......just makes me sad, because I've felt that way at certain times in life, as I'm sure many have.

I can't love u anymore - has some deep emotion, in what many may feel a throwaway song. It really touches me

Condition of the Heart (Left him for a real Prince from Arabia)

Old friend 4 sale (those drums, that Clare Fisher witchcraft)

Papa

Something in the water (does not compute) (Shows some vulnerability)

Sometimes it snows in April

An honest man piano, venus de milo, alexa de paris and father's song

The Cross 4 the tears in your eyes

Joy in Repetition, Still would stand all time, Question of U

Empty Room.

I hate U

Into the light

Purple Rain

Last December.

The Beautiful Ones. (The beautiful ones always smash the picture, always every time)

So many songs light up that tinderbox of emotion, which was his gift to connect with so many disparate and perhaps dispossessed souls.

"Be My Mirror" - it's going to be the father/daughter dance song whenever my daughter gets married

"Let's Have a Baby" - Obvs

"Sometimes It Snows In April" - Obvs

"Purple Rain" but for some reason only when someone else covers it. This year at the rodeo Brad Paisley played "Last Time for Everything" which contains the line "Hearing Prince sing 'Purple Rain' (Last time for everything)" and then he played/sang "Purple Rain's" chorus with the stage bathed in purple lights and I completely lost it.

The guitar part in the last verse of Empty Room, particularly when he's singing "love is strong, however long"... Sounds like his soul crying. Incredible.
