During the 1999 era live Prince had put his lead axeman skills aside to focus on showmanship aspect of his live shows.Accent was on vocals ,dancing and playing piano but during 1999 era Prince did guitar solos during some songs like 1999,Dirty Mind.His solos very very raw and passionate.So what is your favorite guitar solo from the 1999 tour.my personal favorite is Lady Cab Driver live from Detroit.After Dez finish his solo Prince goes into extended coda of the song and for the first and lat time delivers very nice Santana like guitar solo after ad libbing some alternate sing lyrics

Could you let me know the show date / name please. I’d like to track it down and listen. Not heard many Lady Cab Driver solos. Do we know for sure who did the album version? Sounds very much like Prince to me but with Dez on the scene and having played the solo on LRC I was never 100% sure if he didn’t do the LCD as well even though I’m pretty sure it’s Prince.

Album version Lady CAb Driver guitar solo is done by Prince.

on 1999 tour Dez played guitar solo on Lady Cab Driver and Prince played rhythm guitar but on one of Detroits shows that is circulating in sound board quality they do extended Lady Cab Driver and Prince plays guitar solo that sounds like Santana and he also sings some additional lyrics like:hey sexy mamma im gonna make you scream and shout because thats what making love with Prince is all about

The show was on 30th November 1982 and as far as I know can be heard in best quality on the 4DaFunk bootleg Detroit '82 V 2.0.
