CHANHASSEN, Minn. — Chanhassen’s City Council expects to vote next Monday on a plan to develop about 180 acres of Prince’s land, which is in the process of being sold. Prince’s Property, along Galpin Boulevard in Chanhassen, is well known. https://www.kare11.com/ar...xgD1Qnwtqs

It was bound to happen eventually, but you would hope that it could stay in it's natural condition. I bet there are many that would buy the homesites just because he used to own it. They gotta keep those gates and ironwork, though! Good morning children...take a look out your window, the world is falling...

It has to be hard for the long time residents used the "wilderness-like" enviroment. I wonder what each lot will sell for?
Report said the gate house and gate will remain. "Hold on to your souls y'all. We got a long way to go. Thank you! We love y'all!"

Report said the gate house and gate will remain. I was told years ago that Prince planned to turn that area into an actual "Paisley Park", similar to Strawberry Fields. It would be nice to see that come to pass somewhere. From what I was told, it was something he was excited about.

. I've been SCREAMING at the State of Minnesota to take the land in swap for the estate taxes they'll receive. Instead of money they'll waste, they could have a lasting State Park. But no one listens. Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

I get these properties mixed up in Minnie. There's another "gate" property? Time keeps on slipping into the future...
This moment is all there is...

There goes the neighborhood. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Prince probably felt that way when they started builing all those housing editions around him. I don't feel sorry for those residents that live there now who don't want all the extra everything. TRUE BLUE

Susannah Melvoin mentioned, in her recemt interview with Toure, that developers had bought the land and it is going to be subdivided. She said when she was in MN after he passed she snuck under the gate to take one last walk around the property

Good 4 her! I agree. It was sad though. She revealed that she and Prince had planned and built the house on Galpin in '86. He tore that home down in 2006, so it was just open and unused land for many years. Too bad he didn't arrange for it to be protected Park space before he passed.

The last paragraph of that article is the best. In agreeing to sell the property, Prince’s heirs requested that the development not be associated with the late megastar. In other words, it will not be called "Paisley Acres." We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
